Thinking of building a water trailer

I like that tan one. What model is that?

Huh. Figured you would be a Toyo kinda guy. Never cheap out on shoes or tires!

The tan one is a 2020 70 series landcruiser and so is the black hilux, absolute machine the landcruiser is. I’ve had landcruisers for over 30 years I’ve lost count of how many I’ve had, they just can’t be beaten for all round ruggedness, they drive like a tractor but you’ll never ring a tow truck. I bought it the same day I bought the black hilux, just fell in love with it and wasn’t leaving without it. It was only couple months old and sold back to the dealership from a couple from Australia that wanted to use it to explore the country but then Covid hit and had to get rid of it.

$2000 in tires son they weren’t cheap. They came with the vehicle when I bought it. Wouldn’t be my choice if I had to pay for them lol.

I’ve never seen that pickup bed configuration over here. I like.

We built a water mule, I had a 6x10 10k lb dump trailer so I got 3 - 275 gallon totes and cam lock fittings and plumbed it all to the back. It works good but It is a pain in the butt, We are in rural NH and we work a 1 hour radius. We limit the mule to a 30 min ride,

I have to haul the water mule, 30min drive back 30min get PW Trailer, drive to customer 30min drive PW Trailer back 30min, drive back to get mule 30min, drive mule back 30min

so a 1hr round trip customer becomes 3hrs of driving.

Just need to buy another truck and get a part time helper who can drive, lol

We actually started looking at cutaway vans… That way we can tow the mule or a boom lift to the site in one shot

Did this pre-season this year…works out pretty well! The guys complain about taking it, until they get a bad well and lose 1/2 a days commission…

Repurposed the 3 200 gallon tanks off of our trucks when we rebuilt full skids with 275 IBC totes over the off-season.

Nice score! How big is the tank?

500 gallons

Progress being made. Rinsed it out well, and started on plumbing. Everything is on camlocks, so this will operate as one big buffer tank with the machine pulling directly from it, and bypassing back to it.

I also plan on installing a hudson float around the 75-100 gallon point, so when I’m working a large job off of a well, I can draw the tank down to that point first and then start drawing from their well if needed, automatically.

Also tested the surge brakes: they appear to be fully operational.

@Fairtradenh Brandon, help me spread the word: I can haul some water, now :grinning:

I think you’ve got this thing plumbed wrong. Pressure gun is supposed to be on the outside of the tank! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Progress being made. Finally finished installing my bulkheads and lines for pickup and bypass.

It’s just recently occurred to me that this would be the perfect spot to stick my old 5.6@2500 machine as a backup unit. Could stick a couple small hose reels on the fender. This could be a ready-to-roll, self-contained backup rig! Or support a second operator like my dad, who occasionally subs for me on big jobs.
