The second weirdest work I've ever done

So here I am 11:00 at night…dusting and degreasing ductwork on a 12 foot ladder with a 8 ft extension pole… monthly customer mine asked if I could do it… I said sure… they’re getting charged my pressure washing rate of $100 an hour…cause this sucks lol

My only weirdest job was some headstones. Very rewarding and did it for free.

Update not only was it a weird job it was probably the worst !!.it wouldn’t come clean, ended up using a 4" window t bar on the entire thing…wet, scrub, rinse let dry scrub and rinse again…4 and a half hours looking straight up, cant even move my neck this morning.

Looks good! What you going to tell them if they want you to do it agian in 6 months lol

Stick to what you know. It’s taken me years to realize that just because I probably can do something, doesn’t mean that I should do it, even for pay.

A lot of insurance companies (commercial) that do on site visits will give businesses a warning for high dusting.

Can we pin this to the top of the forum instead of the trust level malarkey we have pinned there now?

I think there would have to he a few of them including IBS’s famous “Walk away.”

I’ve thought about offering that service to our existing commercial clients. What would have made you feel better about the job? Better rate, better tools, better technique?

I have one word…

Nope.

The trust levels thread shouldn’t still be pinned to the top of the forum. It was only pinned for 48 hours. I don’t know why it’s showing up at the top of the forum for you. It doesn’t for me. Go in and unpin it. I cannot see where it’s still pinned.

I learned my lesson early on about venturing out into the unknown when a I took a miserable paint stripping job that the customer insisted on. Never again. Definitely stick to what I know unless it’s something that I would like to add to my services list. I would like to add finishing wood and paver sealing. I have no knowledge or time to gain the knowledge so it’s on the back burner.

I lied. I thought it still was.

Im not sure if I agree with everyone. I’ve taken some odd jobs for customers that have turned out to be very profitable, as well as gaining new customers. As long as you know how to complete the job in a professional manner you should be okay.

I’m also not booked up all the time so my time may be worth less money than others on here. So it’s not apples to apples.

I’m gonna hit on the most important thing again, as long you can completely the job in a professional manner.

@Grizz…lol…I’ll tell them hell yea…i found out it hadn’t been cleaned in like 2 years…next time it’ll be super easy and I figured out how to do it from the ground using my long extend pole…I think it goes to 25 or 35 feet…lol I like to be well rounded…I have all the equipment to clean windows and to clean cobwebs from high eves of houses so it’s not that big of a deal…just weirdly different

@Kencollins…honestly I think that just doing the job was really a good experience, I feel like I had all the tools that I needed…a scissor lift would have been sweet though… I knew going into it what to expect I just didn’t know exactly what technique was going to be the best way to get it done…I brought hand held pump up sprayer, spray bottles, light degreasers, mild degreaser, 35ft extend pole, 8ft extend pole, about 50 terry towels,12 ft ladder and a variety of t bars and dusting tools…it took probably an hour to test different ways to go about doing it… I finally settled on using an unger t bar i think it was a 4" maybe a 6" and my long pole…wasnt so bad after that.

I didnt know you cleaned windows. Are you a window cleaner that does Pressure washing or a pressure washer that does window cleaning. I dont really have time to learn it but i think it would be a good add on and also generate leads for pressure washing.

Also $450 with like $20 in expenses sounds good to me lol. Ive did more work than that for alot less working retail and in production plants.

Are you the same person who posted yesterday? Lol! Was it the worst job ever or was it not so bad? Can you at least move your neck now?
