It is definitely what I would call a “poor boy” start-up rig and I’m sure I will catch a lot of crap just for talking about it but I don’t mind, all of us started somewhere. I’ve got about 2x as much invested as i initially thought ($1600), but im going to do whatever i have to do to make sure it was a worth while investment.
First off thanks to Alex @ northside and shout out to the people @ pressuretek for making awesome products.
I’m running a coughcough direct drive (i know sorry) 4200psi 4GPM power washer. I ended up buying the downstream nossle kit, downstream injector kit, and an extra 140 degree thermal valve from pressuretek and everything worked great after i made a few adjustments. Teflon tape took care of all of the little leaks, and I wasnt able to connect the nossle kit to my wand initially, so i bought another quick connect tip that did fit into my wand, and the nossles fit into that.
Everything went really smooth and my buddy (the test subject) was really impressed with how well the SH mix did with the downstream injector/nossles… so was i, so thanks again pressuretek.
My questions at this point:
What do you use for PPE (personal protection equipment). Gloves, Hat, eye protection, boots?
His gutters were a little bit more difficult than the siding… do you find that you normally need stronger SH, longer dwell time, or different chemicals for gutters? or are “hard to clean” gutters more the exception than the rule?
The power washer I bought actually came with a downstream injector (the injector is after the pump) but i think the hose to it is smaller than the one that i bought from pressuretek. My question: Should I leave both downstream injectors hooked up and in the bucket, take the one from pressuretek out, or take the stock tube off and find a way to plug that hole???
I’ll leave the downstream question to someone else…but a big congrats on getting out there and making it happen with the resources you currently have. That can - do attitude and perseverance is going to allow you to outgrow that equipment real soon. A great worker/owner can deliver awesome results regardless of what equipment is used…it just might take a bit more time and effort. Best of luck with your business!

Thank you sir. there is definitely a huge learning curve and I understand why you dont see many people trying to get into it. it’s not easy! I really appreciate it though and best of luck to you as well.
Did you try to see if you could draw your chem solution with the injector on the machine without the other injector inline? The downside to the pressure washer you have is the injector is built in and the unloader is not separate from pump. Makes it more difficult when replacing things down the road.
i knew i was facing bigger potential problems buying the machine i bought… unfortunately it was all i could really afford right now (actually more than i could afford) I am just hoping i can take really good care of it and get it through this one season. If i can do that, next year i will invest in a more serious belt-drive washer and if everything goes well I will always have this direct drive as a back-up.
I am pretty confident (i didnt actually test it) that yes, I can pull chem from the built-in injector. The built-in hose i believe is smaller though.
Some of the questions running through my mind (because i dont exactly understand the science behind it) is
if i have both injectors hooked up (stock and pressuretek injector) will i be drawing excessive soap? Basically just adding the draw from injector 1 + injector 2?
if the pressuretek injector hose is in fact larger than the stock injector hose, am i better off using the pressuretek injector hose so im getting a stronger chem:water ratio? … or are they both going to draw the same chem because maybe the size of the hole in the nossle tip dictates how much chem gets drawn?
sorry if im not explaining this well but i have a lot of different thoughts running through my head right now… maybe it would just be better to get a stop watch, maybe some food coloring, a couple 5 gallon buckets and throw each injector into different buckets in different fashions and start playing with it to see what happens?
I am with everyone else. The PressureTek injector will probably work better.
We almost never scrub gutters. Usually a second coating of house wash and a little dwell time does the trick.
*btw congrats on your new setup. If you change oil accordingly, always unload pressure, and flush the machine (like our process requires anyway) your machine will last. These machines are an incredible investment and can make all of your money back in a day! Best of luck.
Had that injector question once also. "The Man " him self at Pressure Tek told me : The last injector
in line is the only injector that will be drawing. Thanks once again Bob.
