It sounds like the issue is that most of your research was done on YouTube and Facebook. Trash in = Trash out. Social media is filled with content from anyone and everyone, mostly hacks, but luckily this site has higher standards and the members will correct the misinformation. There are very, very, very few YouTubers I would listen to, and I wouldn’t rely on Facebook users for information at all. Dismissing most of what you learned from these platforms will benefit you. If you already know they aren’t reliable, as stated in your post above, it’s best to stop using them as sources. I spent nearly a year researching before even considering purchasing my first professional machine or starting a business. Even in doing so I still made wrong decisions, purchased the wrong tips/guns/etc, and have learned by trial and error… it happens. I’m not saying all this to belittle you, I’m saying this in hopes that you will continue to read around here, ask questions before doing things, and learn the proper ways of doing things… this will create a successful business if that’s what you want.

I’ve also been at youtube, facebook and reddit since about OCTish 2022.
My opinion is that you shouldn’t be taking customers, because you really don’t know what you are doing. I hope you have good insurance. You DO have insurance, correct?
I would realize really fast that you’re not being called out or being called dumb but being helped. Get your read time up. Iv been doing this for two years and I’ll be the first to say I have way more to learn but this site is the place to be. Dont be lazy A F and watch entertaining youtubers. Go to the place where the real pros go to learn and teach and bounce ideas off of.
Ah, there’s the problem. YouTube. Some stuff is good info, some is pure trash but how is anyone to verify?
Rule #1 - when testing for SH effects or anything else. Find the most hidden or inconspicuous spot you can. Behind a bush, hvac unit, back corner, etc and down low if possible. If it’s painted hardie board or whatever.
If t’s some kind of plastic, laminate or whatever on tub, spray some wd-40 on it and wipe off - may or may not work, but an easy try
