Terracotta roof tiles cleaning

Apart from the aesthetics, is there any other (economic) compelling reason to wash terracotta roofs? I’m from Ghana and these roofs are not cleaned for years despite our dusty environment. I want to add this roof cleaning business to a pressure washing business but it looks like aesthetic alone won’t be a good selling point here.

Not really.

If you can do this service in a more ‘affluent’ area where appearances matter you could do quite well. Clean one house all shiny and new and watch the calls roll in.

Hey just curious, what sort of regulations do you have in your area regarding pressure washing? Do you have a local source for chemicals and machine supplies?

Hi, this is an unregulated market. Maybe regulations may come in the future but for now, none. Equipment will be imported. For chemicals, we can get locally

To understand the importance of regular roof washing, you might note why a tile roof needs cleaning and what happens if you neglect this vital task. Any particular threats to your home’s roof brought on by neglecting to clean a tile roof properly can also be noted by a local roof washing contractor.

Calling a local pressure washing company that specializes in soft wash pressure washing is the finest way to clean your roof! As previously stated, a reputable power washing business offers a safe, efficient clean, and your tile roof cleaning expenses are frequently far lower than you might think.

With terra cotta, you’re likely looking at aesthetics as the only real reason for a cleaning…but if you do a google search, it looks like they are supposed to be sealed with a concrete sealer for a variety of reasons. This would necessitate them being cleaned first. You could either get yourself trained in the sealing process and sell that as the primary benefit, or partner with someone who already does that sort of work, but doesn’t provide pressure washing services too… Just a couple ideas.

Welcome to the forums! To clear a few things up, he is working on growing as a “local roofwashing contractor/pressure washing company”, hence the question…and he’s in Ghana, so he’s likely the only one around…

The are terra cotta roofs hundreds of years old all over that side of the world and odds are that none have been cleaned and still function fine.

Exactly. But looking over the roofs, you can observe patches of stains on these roofs in every community.

Sure. I will look into that as an added service.
