Tank wash out

I got a great deal on a 45 gallon tank/sprayer with 100 feet of hose and gun that I want to use for my main water tank, going to add float valve to fill as needed on residential work. My question is it had round up in it, I’ve flushed it with water 3 times and have found a few answers on the net as far as letting either bleach water or ammonia water sit in it for awhile, and then flush it again. Which do you all think would clean it out best?

At my full time job when we use a tank/skid sprayer to spray glyphosate(roundup) we always wash out with at least a triple rinse and ammonia. There are actual tank cleaners out there that could be purchased from a local landscape supply type store, but the ammonia has worked well for us. Once thoroughly rinsed, we can then use the sprayer to spray whatever we like wherever we like.

Thank you sir, that’s what I was leaning towards, do you mix it with water and let it sit for awhile, or just use the ammonia straight?

We mix it. Our tank sprayers have an “agitation” cycle that we let let run for a few moments before spraying through the hose, then repeat, and repeat again.

Thanks again!

Or, you could spend a hundred bucks, get a clean tank and never worry about it.

Well, for $40 I got the tank mounted on a skid with a 5 gpm pump, 100 feet of hose and a gun all in good condition. $100 isn’t going to get all that so I’d say it’s well worth my time to clean and flush it

You got a tank that had grass killer in it, a pump that isn’t going to let you wash houses, 100 ft of hose that had grass killer in it and isn’t going to help you wash houses, a skid that is of no use of you are using this as a buffer tank. But, you saved $60. Not trying to give you a hard time, but doing it correct the first time is always a cost saver. Buying used washing equipment is inheriting someone else’s problem.

Thanks for your opinion but I’ll go with the guy that has a lot of experience cleaning them out and using them for anything afterwards
Edit, it’s in great condition and I already have two other 5 gpm brand new motors so will be swapping it out anyway, and why can’t it be used to soft wash?

You’re putting a float on a batch tank and asking why you can soft wash with it. I’ll just back away and let you do your thing. Failure is one is the best teachers.

Pardon me sir, but if you would have read what I wrote it clearly said I’m using it as my main water tank because I wanted to haul a smaller tank I’m putting a float valve l in it so I can hook the water line to it and keep it full, it will only hold water. I have separate tanks for everything and a proportioner

Also I’m setting my whole systems up based on the great advice and examples of the people here, as well as a backup for everything, so I’m using a used tank in great condition, so what as long as it’s cleaned out properly, my interactions and reading here have showed me that “most” people are very friendly and helpful

Ok, you do you and I hope it works for you
