Surfactant

Best/ Won’t break the bank surfactant to use??

dawn, arm n hammer or oxyclean

No…

These surfactants have an upfront cost yes but you only use pennies worth per wash… it’s worth it and cheaper to buy these concentrates vs the watered down box store stuff.

Click this link and it will bring the thread I made a little while back of all the soaps we use and where to buy it.

I started using surfactant last year and I’ve been happy Elemonator. I order it from PressureTek and it ships within a few days. I use it for siding and flat surface cleaning. There are better products for roof washing.

I’d like to see a test done on this subject. I’m really not sure that the higher priced surfactants are truly superior to Arm n Hammer detergent or Gain.

Maybe they’ll keep a little longer once batch mixed, but outside of that, what is it?

It’s higher priced because it’s a concentrate, and we water it down based on how much we need which is why it’s more cost effective per ounce. plus it’s in bulk because we use a lot of it… I’ve done the math.

Your laundry detergent from wallyworld might get the job done but your paying dollars per job for it while you could be paying pennies for the concentrated stuff.

If you plan to do this for a while, pay more upfront to get savings down the road.

Does anyone make their own surfactant? - #10 by DJPWS

I have made my own surfactant before for washing clothes, wanted to try it out. The bigger question is how would you make a detergent without a chemical plant? You can make soap, people have done that for hundreds of years, but soaps are oil based so to speak.

I’m done with my second PW year and went through that whole Gain/Dawn/OxyClean mess. Long story short, they don’t stick to the surface as well as the professional stuff and tend to leave a residue that takes longer to rinse off. You can ask the vets on here, I really had a time with that.

The only thing I miss is the nice smell. If they can somehow do a E-Linen-ator, I’d be all over that.

I’m loving that pro grip from hurriclean. That stuff is great on roofs and siding.

So what’s the best surfactant on the market??

I have some Pro Grip, will have to try it in the spriing.:+1:

I don’t know if it’s the best but most of us use Elemonator or some variant of it.

I use Elemonator but if you use even slightly to much you’ll have to rinse the windows forever. The soap hides in the cracks and runs down after you walk away. But it doesn’t clean the windows extremely well.

I agree with using less than recommend by Pressuretek. It’s way to much. That’s what I was saying. It does a great job cleaning windows but God forbid if you go heavy with Elemonator in your mix. I find if I have a little to much and it will find it’s way into the glass after I leave. I like to see the sudds but if you do it’s to much. I pride myself on the windows coming out perfect so I maybe a little anal.

I use 1/3 or 1/2 the amount that’s recommended for Elemonator. Just depends on what you like, some like more soap.
