Stuck in a pickle

Possibly. I will have to see what’s bypassing when on the trigger again. It wasn’t much.

One more thing, with 5.5 will i need a buffer tank or should i be safe on the spigots still? i know most homes should be at 7gpm from the spigot if i recall correctly

Not sure about most homes being 7 gpm at the spigot. I believe it is closer to 4-5 gpm. Sure you might have a home here or there with higher flow. I run 8 gpm and have to watch my buffer tank on residential as most homes I will outrun the water from the house.

Absolutely zero sense bolting on another direct drive pump when the blown one will be off the motor. invest in a belt or geardriven setup. Direct drives aren’t built for what we do, order 2 and keep one on the shelf.

Every area is different but you should run a buffer on anything over 4 gpm. I had a 4 gpm to start the summer. I had two houses where I had water issues. Starving the pump like that can ruin the pump.

65 gallon buffer should be plenty for a 5.5.

Home water in my area produces anywhere from around 2 1/2 gallons to 5 gallons. Most are around 4. Just depends on the area

Was wondering the same thing. :joy:

He probably wanted to weed out all the bad advice that would flow in.

Just FYI- I was doing some spray painting with my Graco sprayer today. Needed to prime pump with some water before starting. Had a 1 gal pail. Took 14 seconds to fill it. Newer sub-division on city water. That is just a tad over 4 gpm.

Word of advice - anything over 4 gpm, have a buffer tank. Even it is only 25 gal tank, you will need it.

Have to buy one. Sorry about your week!

All good. looks like i can pick up the ZK1 for 100 with shipping. On the bright side i’ll come out of this with much better equipment than before. everyone has hardships at some point.

also do you know where the best place to buy a gx630 is? Northern tool has a handful but i don’t know the differences are. https://m.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_honda-engines?newSWTerm=688cc&Search.x=0&Search.y=0

I bought a GX690 from sprayer depot. It was $50 more than a 630 I think.
