Stucco sign with metal lettering

Hi all,

I’m out here about to wash a stucco office building, and they also want me to wash the sign. The office manager said she doesn’t know what kind of metal it is but guesses aluminum or bronze. I expressed my concerns to her and let her know I would attempt to find a solution. So, do I walk away, or is there a chem I can use that won’t corrode this metal and make it look worse? I l thought about just taping around the letters and brushing on some housewash mix.

I appreciate everyone’s help.

Always walk away

Lol, can’t always walk away. Sometimes you gotta take jobs that keep you up at night even when you price them high enough and cover your butt well enough… that looks like an attorneys office is nearby though so…

Walk away.

We’ve washed a lot of stucco and washed around a lot of signs, but never like that.

I’d probably use movers wrap (fancy Saran Wrap) it and price in a lift to use a pump sprayer to work around just the sign areas. If they’re willing to pay for the hassle of that then I do the job. If not, It could be a real nightmare to just spray and pray.

Luckily the sign is on the ground. I’ve walked away for now but I’ll give the movers wrap a try tomorrow. Also lucky in that there’s no hurry to do this job. Thanks.

We are grown men. We ain’t gotta do nothin lol

How well are the letters set in? Could you pry them out wash the wall and put them back?

Also why can’t you just pressure wash this? No chemicals.

If that’s EIFS and not true stucco and a basketball bounced into it you’d have to repair a basketball sized divot. EIFS is a super thin layer on styrofoam. You can blow it to pieces if it’s not thick enough or well constructed.

See all the cracks in that thing? If you drive by with a pressure washer it’s in danger. Lol

Tell Emma that. Lol

Sheesh, just wash the darn sign. Probably same material like the bronze tone door handles. After you rinse it, dry them off and spray some WD 40 on a rag and wipe them down. Anything you do going to look better than it does now.

Agreed ^ never had an issue with different metals… Wet it before, apply chem, rinse sign…dwell…rinse. You’ll be alright.

Aside from preventing corrosion does this serve any other purpose?

Or 2nd choice if you’re worried about, get some vasoline jelly and rub on letters. Do your thing and then just wipe letters off. What I do when someone has fancy new gate hardware, etc and I’m cleaning, neutralizing, and staining a fence. Works like a charm.

I’m not sure she really exists. I’ve been trying for a year to get him to bring her South for a visit, lol.

Turns black. Had to go into my Navy file and remember Nevr Dull.

On the old brass lights without the clear UV coating like on the door handles you’re thinking of. Off color spots. That’s before I was smart enough to wrap lights.

Tell her you have a puppy for her.

She’ll head to SC directly from work. She is wearing me out about a 4th dog.
