Stubborn rust stain on brick building

Hi ya’ll,

I’m trying to remove rust stains from a brick store front. I applied a 50/50 mix of CLR and water and then agitated it with a stiff bristle brush, let dwell for 10 minutes and rinsed with hot water…no difference. Tried again with straight CLR and dwelled for 15 minutes and still not much improvement. I repeated this process 5 times and not a lick of difference.

I’m guessing CLR is just inadequate for the job but maybe my dwell time could be tweaked. Any good rust cleaners you guys recommend? Are there some stains that just can’t be removed?

Some before and afters.

That stain is real tough looking. Aluminum wheel brightener straight on stains works well for me. Just be careful with it cause that stuff will wreck substrate if it dries or is left too long. That being said it seems like the only way to get this rust stain 100% off would be to replace that column. Some stains will not come out but you can improve them a ton. Hope you get er done.
This is @Racer 's specialty and his advice is better than mine

Don’t bother cleaning unless customer has an immediate plan to replace that piece of metal above. It’s just going to leach out again.

F9 and those stains are gone. OneRestore is good too.

Try some F9, but I’ve had some exactly like that, that didn’t clean up not matter what I did.
