Striping, inconsistent

I did a flat, brushed concrete driveway recently with my new 5.5/3500 and 1503 nozzles…not a trace of stripes. Post treating not needed. Customer was elated.

I go do the same on my own sidewalk out front the house and I get obvious stripes.

I just can’t win here. Should I be using 2503’s or something? The bar speed is a lot higher than with the 4/4 I was using if that matters.

It’s just different types of concrete. Some stripe, some don’t, some worse then others. My theory is it’s the porosity of it. The less dense, the more stuff is below the surface. Post treat and keep moving.

What’s your take on the 1503 nozzles? I did a search and not much comes up.

This is exactly right…you can drive yourself crazy with this. It is more a difference in concrete than anything else. Also, I notice that most of the striping I get is just the hypercleaned lines on the sides and they are only visible when the concrete is wet…after it dries, they are gone. Harold…good advice …post treat and keep moving.

Put what came from the factory…changing nozzles is not the answer to striping.

Nothing came from the factory…I switched machines and they were recommended to me for a 5.5/3500. Everything I’ve read suggests 2503’s.

That is what I would put in it.

Another thing, despite what they say, everyone that cleans concrete gets stripes…it is that simple and no one can do it without them. I have cleaned enough concrete to know this to be a fact.

Sounds like I’m not the only one. :+1:

What % are you post treating with? Are you going back to see if the stipes are still there after your post treat dries? Also, just use the nozzle chart to get yourself around 2500psi.
