Thanks a lot. I saw their price, didn’t know it was free shipping, that is a bonus. They even sell the 1520 and 1526 at the same price. Now I think the PW hose reel is done. getting tired of searching for a CHEAP water hose reel, all the ones I am finding have 1/2 inside who wants to reduce the flow… Maybe I’ll use my one for the garden, that thing is a beast, sits outside for a couple of years and still cranks away. I have about 275’ of garden hose on it now and it could hold more…
Just to be clear, I have found tons of water hose reels, just not cheap ones.
For my water supply real I ordered a Hannay with a 1" manifold so I wouldn’t reduce flow if I decided to run it through the reel. I ended up just doing what William said and not even running it through the reel. Mainly because I have Flexilla and it flattens out so much. I have camlocks connecting my sections of hoses and on each end so I can pull off the number of sections needed. I even screw a camlock onto the house spigot just because it’s easier than fiddling with the hose swivel and especially because a lot of hose spigots around here are a 6" off the ground and back behind some evergreen bushes. I also have a camlock on the other end so I can hook it to my buffer. I think this season I’m going to try and go through my reel.
You mention the cost of hose reels for supply. By the time you buy a cheap garden hose reel you’re probably still talking $100. What’s another $160 to get a great reel that you know will last and that matches your other reels? You seem like you’re a perfectionist so I shouldn’t have to twist your arm too much. Seriously though, you’ll be glad you went with a good one from the start. There have been others in the past on here who went with some cheap garden hose reel that ended up failing in a short period of time. They just aren’t built for everyday use and multiple times a day.
Thanks for taking the time to help out. Maybe I am dumb, or just not getting enough sleep, your bypassing the swivel on the hose reel?
I might need to see a picture, I am not getting this for some reason. My brain hurts. Spending so much time reading stuff here, surfing the web trying to save a few bucks here and there on equipment, reading regulations and laws…
I know you did all this a long time ago, thanks for taking the time to help out.
Pull off as much hose as you needed to reach the spigot. Go to the reel. Pull off hose until you reach a connection. Unhook hose. Hook make end into tank, Hudson valve, from into tank, however you plan on feeding your tank. My reels don’t even have swivels or manifolds. They just hold hose
I see your point, and your right they are great to use if your an owner operator and look after your stuff, because it’s YOUR stuff, employees however don’t take much care of them. It’s always been like that and always will be, I’m at peace with it lol.
Thanks again. Makes sense now, didn’t when I replied. Now I am rethinking how to have my water supply hose, was thinking 2 100’ sections, now maybe 50-75’ sections with cam locks. Guess my prior experience running hose where more connections equal more opportunities to leak is wrong for this field. The more I read the less I know.
