Square footage ranges

Hey guys just wondering if i could get some help here. I am currently working on set prices and using ranges of square footage for different prices (ex: 1200-1800 x price, 1801 -2800 x price). I got the house wash, siding only, gutter cleaning but im having difficulty setting the ranges for drive ways or concrete. I know the price range i should be charging but dont know ranges. Any help would be appreciated.

Use Google maps to measure and pick a driveway you are familiar with for an example. Guess how long it would take you/how much you would like to make washing it. Measure and divide that price into the amount of sqft it is. That price will be the price you charge per sqft.

That’s technically not what you are asking. I just believe it makes more sense to charge by the sqft for concrete cleaning. I use Google Earth/maps for all quotes.

Well i have ranges i was using that went like: small driveway, medium Driveway, etc… i dont like using that anymore as im getting alot more calls for specific sizes like today “need a quote on 800 sq ft concrete driveway” and i have no idea what to charge without seeing it. With gas prices hovering around 1.70/liter (6.50 us gallon) id like to cut the estimating down

Are you saying you don’t know what 800 sq ft looks like? 40 x 20 is 800 sq ft, or 80 x 10 is 800 sq ft. 30 x 25 is 750 sq ft, 30 x 30 is 900 sq ft. I’m not sure if that’s what your asking, but square footage can be calculated by length x width in feet.

What i mean to say is ranges. For example:

House washing (1200 - 1800 sq. Ft.) $350
Siding only. (1200 - 1800 sq. Ft.) $250

House washing (1801 - 2800 sq. Ft.) $450
Siding only. (1801 - 2800 sq. Ft.) $300

I need the same thing but for concrete. Specially those guys that do alot of driveways

My two cents… take with a grain of salt… I don’t do ranges per say, just plug the sq ft in and multiply by my rate and boom, there it is. You could then range them I suppose as normal once you get a feel for what you want. I take it you are just getting started?

This is basically what I do and it takes about 2 minutes.
House Wash: $.15 x 2200 = $330
Flat Work Concrete: $.20 x 800 = $160
Gutter Interior Clean-Out: $.75 x 120 = $90

No im not just starting… but im trying to put set prices so the jobs become more profitable. Also will be using these scales for use on website so people will sell themselves. Like im looking at a competitor and he has it as

Single car
Double car
Four car
Six car

Same thing that i want just expressed differently ha ha ha

What’s the difference from a house wash and siding wash?

Some houses here sometimes have the sides and back with vinyl siding but the front is made of stone or other materials. We will wash the siding only but not front part. Sometimes clients want that to save money or because dont think they need to clean stone. Their choice

I tried that with driveways here once. Had way too many homeowners with 6 car driveways that would say they have a 3 or 2 car drive. I just measure map it real quick, then plug in my square footage rate, and boom, done in about a minute. Seriously had folks who would tell me their drive was about 20’ long at most and one car wide, as I’m looking at it on measure map and seeing that it’s actually closer 80’ long and 20’ wide.

Brick/stone exterior wash is an easy upsell in that case. If I have to wash the trim and windows on a brick side, I’m not leaving soap residue on the brick, but I’m not washing it for free either. I just tell folks the brick is dirtier than it looks, which it is. Holds more dirt than vinyl does, you just don’t notice it till it’s clean.

Exactly… i tell the clients that but if they dont want to, atleast ill do the siding and off i go. Either way i dont go home empty handed

It sounds like either the customers there are super cheap, or you are not quite willing to market yourself as a professional and charge your worth. Don’t be afraid to make money…I book about 90% of my estimates based on the initial customer experience that I give them. If you’re willing to stick to your guns and don’t allow customers to choose your pricing “there is gold in them there hills”. I make pricing super simple, square or linear ft multiplied by rate and done. Siding, brick, stucco, it all gets cleaned.

Yes i completely understand what your saying. And i stick to my guns. I charge about 100-120/hr residential. Only thing is i like to give customers a choice. If you think about it, it comes down to the exact same, price is lower but so is scope of work. So in reality it really makes no difference. Now granted there are times where the clients wanted to dictate my price or how i should do the work and in those situations i just walk away and let them know very professionally it dont work like that.

To be honest im just studying all the big guys here and the ones not here and one thing ive noticed is that they have averages, specially now a days with the cost of gas and that “amazon experience” people look for.

Now before people come out of the woodwork, i will specify that i am looking to grow big and have sales teams, lots of trucks, project managers and all that jazz and i also understand that lots of guys here are just looking to make good money, take care of their families, buy their toys and vacay once or twice a year and not grow big. I understand the differences and hope everyone else does too.

Talk to @squidskc or @Patriotspwashing. I think they both use fixed rate pricing.

Thank you racer. I will message them and see if they can impart some of their wisdom unto me.

I will also mention that i live in a major metropolitan area so things around here is a whole different beast than being in a small to medium city. Theres guys here that been in business longer than ive been alive and alot of time who you know is more important than what you know
