Spilled aluminium cleaner - is there any hope? 😥 🖼️

Hello :grinning:

A while ago I was able to spill aluminium cleaner (that are super strong, and really dangerous if getting it on the skin) these stone tiles, not sure what type of stone it is… But they do seem to have really make it’s mark. Is there any hope of fixing this?

Looks like I’m 3 days late on your question but I would say no, you probably don’t have a chance in saving them. Aluminum brightener is usually acid based so it etched the surface. You might be able to make it less noticeable with some concrete stain and a sealer. What’s the name of the aluminum brightener so we can see what’s in it?

Id be inclined to try some vinegar.

Funny story, I was doing some inside WC and had to move a heavy bed. It scraped the wood floor, left a 3" scratch. I informed the customer, they said no worries but it bothered me.

Thought about it the next hour and it dawned on me…got some oil off my van’s dipstick and worked it into the mark. It matched beautifully.

Dirty oil is also the best lubricant ever! I would always lube my Vanguards idle screw with the dipstick. It would turn it to butter. They always wanted to try and walk away from their home at 2550-2570

WoodStain of old days was kerosene and lump of tar mixed.
