Southside Equipment Experience

So I never ordered from Southside due to complaints in shipping cost.
I’ve made up orders and I get to checkout and the shipping is outrageous!

Well I decided I was placing an order no matter the cost because I wanted to try Roof Snot as I’ve been using Cling On from Pressuretek but its seems to have been watered down. Not thick like it used to be.

So I order 5gal snot 5gal red raider and 3 other gallons of stuff. Total 13 gallons.
At checkout shipping was like $160. I wanted to bail but said screw it and placed the order.

Next day I check my email and the order is shipped and I have a refund?
Refund? Ok I go look and they refunded me $40 on shipping.
Does this always happen? I have no idea. But I know I’d ordered a long time ago if I knew the shipping would be actual cost and extra refunded.

Just wanted to share this in case people are afraid to order due to shipping cost.

PS I ordered Monday around 2pm.
Packages were on my porch Wed at 3pm!
East coast. Not bad!

Now to see of this Snot and Red raider is any good!

Mix up some salt into your Cling On and see if it thickens up. There’s a salt curve so adding too much will then thin it.

They usually adjust or you can just do like I do and call it in - someone actually answers the phone there - and place your order.

Thankfully I live 15 minutes from them.:+1:

Is this true?

I was actually just reading about this.

Was true in my case.
I spent a year not ordering there just because every time I made up an order…at checkout the shipping was almost as much as my order!

Pulled the trigger finally!

:joy:

Since we’re talking about mixing weird stuff. Has anybody on here heard of mixing gasoline to your diesel fuel to make your burner run super clean ? I’ve just heard it last week from a long time pressure washer.

I don’t understand. Is is specifically google salt or just any salt?

If that were true then I would think the sodium in SH would make all surfactants thicker.

Maybe it has to be NaCl instead of NaClO to thicken…dunno. I may try it.

Seen a guy do that once at the gas pump in his diesel truck. No bueno

We used to mix a gallon of gas to 100 gallons of diesel to keep fuel from gelling when I drive wreckers

It may work I just dont think I would take the chance

This sparked my interest so I did a little digging, this is for soap making but how to make a salt curve should be applicable since it’s still a surfactant.

I used to do 50/50 diesel kerosene to do the same. Back when diesel and kerosene were at the same pump
