Softwashing Limestone near metal sign with hard water

I have a commercial client who’s interested in getting the side of their church building softwashed. However, there’s a large metal sign mounted on the side of it. Not only do I want to be conscious of the hot SH mix I’ll be using (~4%), but also that their water source I’ll be using is a pretty hard water.

What are the factors/practices I should consider when trying to wash this side of the building and not damaging the sign? I washed the other sides and splashed some of their metal roofing, and after rinsing it with said hard water I didn’t see any staining or reaction. I’ve heard to keep the metal surfaces wet with the SH mix and to not let it dry. I imagine I would upcharge for that since I’ll have to use more mix. Is this job a bit too risky? Any tips helpful.

Two options:

Hit the sign with 4% mix and see what happens

or

Pre wet the sign
Spray your chems (not directly on the sign)
While waiting for chems to dwell, water down the sign again
Rinse off chems
Water down sign again before leaving

Don’t worry about it, I already took care of it for them. Thanks for the lead!

that was funny.

On a side note, can you post a link to your site, can’t find my bookmark and interested to see what you have cooking. Haven’t perused the catalog since last season.

Msg me if they said not to post it or something weird like that.

You can add your email for new product notifications. This year is going to be fun TRUST me! I have plenty cooking but I will happily take requests and add it to the ever growing list.

Thanks. Any chance of making a better 3 way valve? Those things snap at the worst times, I have to keep several on the trailer and I’m just a part timer. Maybe I am mistreating them, but they seem fragile. Worst part is that they are now over 18 a piece, plus shipping/handling, for plastic.

Yeah for sure, I sourced 3 way 316L balls and machined some out of brass. The seals were machined out of PTFE. The bodies were very heavy wall! I’d likely want to do the the bodies and balls in CPVC for you all. I may look into making them already mountable rather than making something else just to attach it to something.

Don’t see them on your site. Already mountable would be nice, but not necessary for me. I have stainless clamps galore  I’m actually thinking about running double 3 ways like I saw in the rubber scrubber thread.

I need advice on polished aluminum and that aluminum diamond plate on a race car trailer. I tried deoxidizing some of the painted metal as it was pretty bad, but the polished aluminum got hit with overspray. Tried to get milky on me, so I hit it with compound and buffed it to a shine. Gotta be an easier way. I’m no rubber scrubber, but people keep asking about their toy haulers and race car trailers. This guy brought it to me and parked it, love that idea. I could have buffed that paint out to a shine, because I think it is that cheap asterisk blended paint the manufactureres spray on them. I tried my normal oxidation removal that I use on aluminum houses and it was cleaner but oxidation removal was kind of a failure. A test spot with a buffer shined it up nice, but not putting 25 hours into that and ruining my shoulders. I didn’t measure it, but think about a car fitting in an enclosed trailer size and it was every bit of 8’ high sides, need a ladder to do the roof.

The polished aluminum was already slightly milky when brought to me, but it did get worse after the overspray hit it. I can’t leave it that way, that isn’t me. He was happy with the results, but I wasn’t. Since I had to redo the back I did the front too, for free, can’t have someone bad mouthing me and it would look like poop with only some of the aluminum shiny.

Sean @Hotshot is the GOAT when talking chemicals for those trailers. Not everything makes it to the site, I’m just having fun most of the time

That guy is busier then a one legged man in an ■■■ kicking contest. Did he put out his own line of chems yet?

Lol yeah he’s still taking names! We did talk about it but I can’t speak for him. Maybe he wants to peddle some metal fab work if he’s not too busy. I can dig the work I just hate selling . Kicking off some surface cleaners soon for sure.
