Soft washing question

Hi all, it’s me the power washing newbie again lol.

I appreciate the responses I got from the last thread I made for what to aim for per hour just as a standard starting point and I got some good info so thank you

Now this morning I went for a window cleaning estimate and some power washing.

The customer had a white fence he wanted washed on both sides and asked what mix I use cause the guy before used one, I didn’t really know what to say lol

Here’s a pictures of the fence he wants washed:

He also wanted a deck in the back washed, as well as a gutter, soffit, and a little trim area in the back of the house.

What chemical / solution should I use for the fence?

For the deck he said he has one that the previous guy used so I assume I would use that one for the back and then just rinse with clear water?

I was told from someone I know that he uses gutter butter and recommended it to me but just want to make sure if that’s fine

Also I have a regular power washer I’ll be using that I got from home depot to do this if that matters lol

The window cleaning side of it I know how to do just this lil thing, thanks!

Everything you said in your post just shows you have no idea what you’re doing and yet and should not bid jobs like that. You need to spend a lot more time learning and buy equipment before you go practicing on someone else’s property. In 2 minutes of searching you will find how to clean all these areas and they 100% don’t include using some cleaner that someone gives you and you know nothing about.

You right, I’ll probably get the: Simple Green Oxy Solve Deck and Fence Pressure Washer Cleaner.

Looks like it’s good for vinyl fences and wood / composite decks

And it’s a safe product

If he’s right, then I think the point was, don’t do the job…that fence is just asking for a lot of plants to be dead if you don’t know what you’re doing precisely…

If you dont know what your doing stay away from it you will most likely ruin and damage those plants fence and anything else you were asking about stick with what you know or walk away from the job

Light 'er up and get it done. Nevermind those plants. They’re only a few grand. Don’t ever let reason or logic stand in your way. Remember, if you ain’t first–you’re last. Now, kick the tires and light the fires and be sure to take good before and after pictures.

I’ve done a few of those fences, PITA honestly. Hit it with about 2%, rinse bushes thoroughly with water and use a medium pressure fan tip to knock the dead lichens and algae off. Lots of crazy angles going on with these things.

Like the other guys said if you aren’t familiar with the procedure, just skip it.

Being able to take some ribbing is a good asset to have :+1:. Use the search feature above. It’s a goldmine of information. To this day i don’t believe there is anything left to cover questions wise on washing other than where you mount equipment, it’s all here and free of charge at your disposal, just type in keywords and you’ll get bombed with knowledge from the fine folks on here.

True story! It took me a full year of banging on that search bar every day before I had a question it couldn’t seem to answer. That’s when I had to finally break down & start an account.

Want to revive my old topic.

I learned a lot in the year since this post.

This turned out to be a nightmare customer, very picky dude and wasn’t the most friendliest but in the end he was happy with how everything turned out…

Did his windows, the fence, and deck.

The gutters he wanted scrubbed by hand with a sponge he was saying etc, god it was probably the worst customer I’ve ever had and didn’t wanna risk packing up and leaving mid job cause didn’t want a bad review.

But got it done in about 2 days with a helper and made about $650 for all the work, which is not alot probably more of a learning experience than profitability.

I don’t remember how I did the fence I think I just pressure washed it where it was green.

His chemical he gave me to use on his deck also had SH in the ingredients so not like it would’ve made a huge difference.

Now I know about downstreaming, pre wetting plants, and all that, and know what to do for the most part :joy:
