Sodium Metasillicate

For wood cleaning, how do I know how much Sodium Measillicate will be needed for a job? I’m not sure how it is packaged but, for example, if you buy it by the pound, how much of an area will a pound cover? I know there are variables to factor in but I guess I’m trying to figure out how to factor the chemical into the price quote for the customer.

well, you mix it with water. Ratio is per gallon. How much water does it take to spray a deck? Not too much if you already pre wet it. It also depend on how hot it is, how dirty it is, and other factors. 2 gallons goes a long way. Are you doing rails and spindles/ballusters? Lots of waste there.

Not being smart, but are you just cleaning a deck or are you refinishing it/staining it? If your not 100 percent on chemicals and chemical mixes I would re read the deck 101 thread. Better safe than sorry.

Right now I am just cleaning. I am working on my cousins fence and I may do my parents front porch too.

My cousins fence is 60x6. I’m not sure the dimensions of my parents porch.

My cousin isn’t as concerned about his fence as my parents would be about their porch so I’ll test on my cousins fence first.
