Sodium Hypochlorite through Siphon?

New here so be gentle…I’ve been doing this 3 weeks and am getting a lot of call and jobs already. I started with just fences, decks, and concrete and am comfortable with those. I turned down 4 houses this week but need to get my homework done enough to have the confidence. I have a 4200 4 GPM pressure washer with siphon for cleaner. Can I run Sodium Hypochlorite through that or will that ruin the pump? The manual said no bleach but this isn’t bleach…but maybe the same…I’m clueless and would love any feedback.

If you downstream using a downstream injector (this) it won’t affect your machine or pump. Then you can use SH (sodium hypochlorite) and a surfactant (Elemonator) from a tank into the downstream injector.

Sodium hypochlorite is bleach.

This is so helpful! Thanks!!

I turned down 4 houses this week because my comfort level is not there yet. I did one yesterday and the homeowner was thrilled but thank God not picky because I could tell I disturbed the oxidation on the side the sun hits hard. What mix do you concentrate the SH and Elemenator? The SH I bought yesterday was 10%.

Most of us on here get the 12.5% from various sources. I don’t do enough volume to buy in bulk so I still get it from a pool supply shop by the gallon.

The 10% stuff is fine as well, especially when using a smaller machine like a 4/4. When I had one, you could stand there and watch the algae turn brown and melt off within a minute.:flushed: I run a 5.5/3500 now and it takes a bit longer. My 8gpm pump is sitting in my garage just waiting to be put on, should be interesting with that sucker.

It doesn’t take much Elemonator or Snotmenade at all, 5 gallons of SH only need about an ounce or two.

2 ways to approach it. 1. Think in terms of percent of SH hitting the surface. It doesn’t matter what percent you start at only what percentage hits the surface. To do this you have to measure how much cleaning solution your downstream injector pulls. House washing on vinyl siding is typically around .6 to 1 percent hitting the surface. Brick, stucco, etc, will be higher. 2. Is the algea or organics coming off quick enough? If not you need to up your SH.
