Simpson Pressure Washer

I bought a simpson power washer from Lowes last year. I’ve only used it twice for very short time.

TOday I used it for about 4 hours. Afte about an hour it kept shutting off. I would wait a few minutes then start it again. It would stay on for a few minuted thendie. The longer I waited the longer it would stay on befoe dying. Any idea waht this could be? Thanks.

Have you checked the oil level?

1- Engine oil is too low/engine oil sensor thinks it is too low

2- Ignition coil is going out

I checked oil and it’s fine

How do I diagnose if it’s one of those ?

Ensure engine is on a level surface, check oil for proper amount in engine crankcase via dipstick on crankcase. Check owner’s manual that came with unit to verify location of dipstick if need be and how to read dipstick. Engine should be operated on a relatively level surface as well. I’ve see folks check oil level in their garage where the ground is nice and flat, then drag their machine outside and try to operate on a slope where it’ll likely trigger the low oil sensor.

A failing ignition coil can become intermittent once they warm up and therefore causing machine to shut down. If the machine shuts off on its own instantly (like someone just walked over and flipped the on/off switch to off) but you can restart it briefly before cutting off again you’re likely on the right path. Putting machine in shade for a 10-15 minutes can make it run a bit longer, but once coil get hot it’ll die again. Check out some videos online and they’ll show you a more in-depth process of how to test for a troublesome ignition coil.

Thank you very very much. That’s what happens!! After unning for a long while it just stsrts shutting off. Not instanly but a few burps then shuts off. The longer I leave it off the longer it stays running. Well it started right up this morning after sitting over night. I only had it ruinning for about 25 minutes as opposed to hours yesterday.
