I pass by a local fire department all the time and can’t help but notice the black streaks on the (concrete?) exterior. It has a somewhat faded sign in individual letters “FCFD” and just curious how you big time outfits handle these situations.
I’m considering doing a freebie for them, just don’t want to screw up their sign. As you can kinda tell it’s spaced out from the building a little.
I appreciate firefighters but i don’t know why it should get washed for free… It’s not their personal home it’s a building owned by the city isn’t it? You pay taxes to maintain city property. You should be paid to wash it.
But i know the feeling, i have 3 commercial places i drive by all the time, i am itching so bad to wash them as they’re extremely dirty, but i could never get to the person that makes that decision.
I think the point was to establish community ties by showing some pride. There’s nothing wrong with doing things for free, as long as they generate something positive in return, or it’s a cause you’re passionate about. Life isn’t all about money.
I don’t disagree. I’m saying personally there’s a bigger chance of catching me doing something free for a poor elderly or someone in a difficult situation than for the city.
I don’t disagree either, but I would guess it’s something that the city will never pay to have done, and it’s an “I live here and take pride in my town” thing. It can be one of those, no one’s going to clean it, so I will situations.
You said the word “town”. Curiously i could see myself want to do that for a small town, but not for a big city wasting millions in tax dollars on ugly “art” to put on the street that no one likes. Mannnn they’re huge and made of metal too, so you know they’re going nowhere soon. Lol
I totally get what you’re saying, the city could and should step up. Unfortunately around here there are precious few funds and even fewer people giving a darn about their community, thus the nearly permanent black streaks.
I’m not 100% in a charitable mood, this would be a good first building for me. I assume it’ll need about 2% correct?
Those may be aluminum faces. If they were built properly they should’ve used Matthews two part paint which is automotive grade. I would pre-wet them and then rinse them off after treating the walls around it. See if you can get some close-up pictures though because they may also be foam or plastic. You have my number feel free to hit me up next time you’re over there, can send me some pictures and I’ll be able to tell you what they are.
