Should I even do this? Goodwill cameras

So Goodwill contacted me to clean like 65 cameras at about 12 locations monthly.

Just wondering is it even worth it and does someone have experience with this?

How would you clean the cameras guaranteeing no damage?

I would like to get this job just for leverage to keep in contact with goodwill for other services I provide. I know a few goodwills that need a good soft wash. Anyways I added up how long it took to get to each goodwill. You’re looking at about 4 hours with some traffic accounted for, so it is a lot of driving. Thinking about charging about $650 or more? I feel that may br to much especially as a monthly charge. Oh well gonna try it and send it. Thank you

Glad to see that you talked it out on your own…lol

What kind of fuel mileage are you getting? In my rig I’m getting about 9 miles a gallon so that would be like $250 in fuel alone. I don’t have deep pockets like U-Haul for cost logistics but they have figured out that wear and tear cost about a dollar a mile for brakes tires tuneup oil changes etc. I would say you’re looking at at least 300 or maybe even $400 just in vehicle and transportation costs. I charge $175 an hour for travel whether I’m in my bucket truck or Powerclean truck. Covers everything above plus labor comp insurance taxes etc. Bare mind I’m in California where everything cost 2 to 3 times more than the rest of the country…

Sean just curious, what is your plan when they ban the sale of new small engines?

I would secure the 12 buildings to get washed and throw in the cameras for free.

Hopefully Honda will bump the horsepower on the IGX 800 from 24.9 to 25.1

Buy big engines! lol jk. I thought about this and realized that it would actually be awesome to have an electric pressure washer powered by a Tesla battery even half the size of the one that goes in their car. If a battery can push four people around in a car for 300 miles on a full charge then I should be able to wash for several days without needing to plug it back in for just a few hours at night to get it full again. Have you ever heard a 240v electric commercial pw? Super quiet, all you hear is the pump. My kubota 8gpm is ridiculously loud and it’s great to turn it off at the end of the day. I’ve had a few complaints over the last few years and also can’t wash anything residential off hours. Not so sure how it would work with the heat though but fortunately I rarely need that. I also have a large solar system so it would be way cheaper for me to run it than the $7/gallon I’m paying for diesel. (Even red diesel is over $6!)

I thought the new law stated you could still buy smaller gas powered equipment if there was not suitable alternative? I think pressure washers would fall under that. I will say, electric is the way to go when you can. I have an electric pressure washer for home use. I use if for washing cars and it being so quiet and only running while on the trigger is great. I also recently bought an electric mower. You don’t feel very manly mowing with it, but it is so much nicer. It’s like pushing around a kids toy. It weighs nothing and makes very little noise, so it’s just weird.

So far only a gx120 equivalent, but check this out:

Kalifornia is really doing their level best to weed out the people they don’t like.

You could design a bicycle powered pump & create a job for somebody but they’d probably ban that too.

What size pump cann that run? Can it do 8 GPM at 3000 psi? If so how Long can a run for before draining the battery?

It’s equivalent to the GX120, so no way. Probably could run a 2 gpm pump at 3000

Oh great. They want to implement this in our capital area of Ottawa as well in 2023. Will have to keep updated with the 24v pump thread …

It’s so stupid. If the electric stuff is truly better, people will naturally change to it. There is no reason to make laws against buying products that are becoming inferior. I feel the same way about electric cars. You can’t say how much better they are, then turn around and give tax incentives for people to buy them. I switched by trimmer, edger and mower to electric. Not because I’m a tree hugger, because for me and my size yard, they are just flat out better. I didn’t need a law or tax credit to make me switch. The wife’s next vehicle is going to be electric. We’re just waiting on a larger SUV to come out. I don’t want a Tesla and the Rivian is the only 7 seater out, but too long of waiting list.
