Shadow Box Fence - time involved

We don’t have a ton of shadow box fences in my area. We have it but it’s not common at all.

From the limited amount I’ve found on the site, it sounds like it takes awhile longer to clean and stain.

How much longer would you say it takes to clean compared to a regular fence the same length/size? I want to make sure I price my quote for the customer accordingly.

And if you have any tips, I’m all ears.

It takes me about twice as long and it’s messy too, they suck

I’ve done a fair amount of it, it’s probably closer to 250% more. You basically have to make at least 2 and usually 3 passes on each board. They are a real pita.

Thank you, @Racer & @deck!

Does anyone price the shadow box more?

Yes… more time should = higher charge. They are messy and you have to hit each individual face from two different angles. Also, some of it may never see sunlight and is really dirty.
