Sh in my soap tank!

Having some issues with SH backfilling into my soap tank. Here is my current setup.

Gx690 (8gpm pump)

Flowpro downstream bypass system

Ds pro downstream proportioner.

Been using this setup for about a month and just started noticing SH getting into my soap tank. I’ve already tried swapping the downstream injector and switching the check valve on the proportioner system with no luck. Any ideas of why SH would be going backwards in the system? Feel like I’ve done all the simple fixes with no luck. Any information is appreciated .

Did you put new check valves in or just swap them between lines?

The proportioner I have has 3 valves (1 for sh, 1 for soap, and the third I had as an auxierly and not in use). I ended up ordering more check valves just in case (they havnt come in yet) so I started using the auxierly valve as my soap to test it out and that also put soap in the tank. Possibly that both check valves could be bad but the proportioner is only a month old and that check valve port has never been used.

it’s odd that sh is still pulling throughout the downstream injector but also backfilling into the other tank?

Got it, yea that seems unlikely but not unheard of. In the meantime have you tried messing with the Flopro to make sure the ball valve is closing/opening all the way as intended?

I appreciate the info. The entire setup is about a month old (not saying it can’t go bad) but I havnt looked at the ball valve yet besides testing the actuator to see if it will pull soap and shut off for rinsing. That portion works fine but it’s possible the ball valve isn’t full closing?

The actuator on your ball valve can work, but the valve itself might not be shutting all the way. Could be some debris inside or misaligned either would leave a tiny gap. If so during low flow or pauses, SH pressure would sneak past.

Run the system without using the bypass

Run the system without using the proportioner

Taking each part out of the system should tell you which one is causing the issue.

I would think his ds proportioner is upstream from his flow pro so even if it was not fully closing it wouldn’t back up I think. Plus if it’s closing enough to change from one to the other on rinse, it’s fine.

My quest ion is why have a ds proportioner? Just another step (ie gadget) that’s something else to break and completely unnecessary.

I agree with you about having another gadget but I’ve used one on my other truck for 2 years with no issues. I also don’t want to batch mix so this was one way to avoid doing that every morning. I do see what you saying the more you add just add a recipe for more problems.

I did end up changing out the chemical injector for a third one and used it yesterday working and nothing seemed to back up. Will update you again after I get some more work done to see if the other injectors I used were just bad.

Good luck with it. Little problems like that can really be annoying

I agree. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best thing to do.

Thats a good point, I was just trying to think of any places that water could be diverted unintentionally.
