SH dripping onto unstained deck

I recently washed a house with an unstained wood deck, and the customer did not want the deck cleaned. I noticed while I was spraying the house the SH, which I down stream inject, it was dripping onto the deck and leaving spots. I understand were actually clean spots from where it killed the mold that was on the deck. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to avoid this, or is this just something I will have to explain to the customer next time if they don’t want their deck cleaned as well. Thanks in advance.

I put a TARP down over the side of wall and deck.
same when cleaning a gutter that over laps a drive way.
Let droppings fall on the tarp

That’s s great idea and so simple…don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

I would have soaked the deck down with just water before using chemicals around it

This might be a little bit of a stretch, and I realize that homeowner doesn’t want to have the deck cleaned, but you might try asking if she or he would like part of the deck that is spotted cleaned (no charge) if it is feasible. Then homeowner will get to look at the clean part of the deck and perhaps call you later when they are ready to have the rest of the deck cleaned. Kind of like leaving your business card on their deck and then you have also fixed the problem. You could also offer to clean any kind of deck furniture, exterior windows or anything else that may keep you in the good graces of the homeowner, of course at no additional charge. Good luck and let us know how it came out.
