SH 15% Marked Tanks From New Supplier

I have a new supplier for SH the tanks were marked 15% . I am trying to figure out a good batch mix for soft washing. Who knows it could be higher.

I think the 12.5% manufactures deliver them that high so they are still able to sell it as 12.5% after a couple of days sitting. I read from a couple of guys picking up some fresh 12.5% and have been told it might be still hotter because of the fresh delivery.

The tanks I pulled from were marked 15% SH

It could be even hotter than 15%.

I am worried about that… any suggestions on batch mix for soft wash.

I’m pretty sure most if not all 12.5% is actually produced at 15%. It degrades rapidly so it’s then labeled as 12.5%. The truth is that 12.5% degrades very rapidly to roughly 10%.

As far as mixes go, just start out 60/40 and go up or down from there.

That is what I has been doing/

That’s true. I’ve seen some suppliers advertise 20% but from conversations I’ve had with more knowledgeable folks than myself it seems like it would be a waste. The stronger to product is initially the more unstable it is and the faster it degrades. That’s why 10% degrades faster than 6% and same with 12.5% faster than 10% and so on and so forth.

So, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? There is no one size fits all batch mix unless you’re just running straight 12.5% that will kill everything it touches. If you’re batch mixing then you’ll always be adjusting the batch for different stains.

When I saw 15% clearly marked on a huge tank. I got a little concerned if might be stronger. I did not want to damage anyone’s property. It stripped paint right off aluminum siding

Your customer’s aluminum siding or a test piece of siding?

I feel it was painted over… it was green colored siding showing under the siding…ya a customer… My test spot showed nothing…then I spray it on and the paint melted right off. Showing green siding under the white paint. That is it for me with aluminum siding.

Yeap my drums all say 12-15%. How cares though. Lol

So do mine. I’ve never really worried about it though because with the 8gpm machine it’s not going to be very stout anyhow. I’ve had to use dollar general stuff when my supplier was out and it’s a huge difference. What’s everybody doing with their leftover drums and containers? I have some empty 5 gallon buckets and I’ve repurposed as man as I can and I have no clue what to do with the 15 gallon containers I’ve got.

Ouch. Yeah that stinks. I don’t wash very much aluminum siding at all but when I do I do a few test spots.

I hoard my drums

Do I even want to know why…?

You guys don’t have to do a deposit down there for anything over a gallon? After the gallon size here, we normally only have the 5 gallon option which is a ten dollar deposit on the container.
While availability is low to get the product, luckily there seems to be a recycling depot wherever you look to drop off the smaller empties.

The place i buy from doesn’t care. Its a HUGE place with multiple buildings. I back my little f150 up to a loading dock in between huge 18 wheelers when i pick up chems lol.
