Seo? Is it Bs

Talked to a company today, about seo and using google ad words. Want to know your experience, does it work. Is it something you can do yourself or is forking over a couple hundred a month going to grow your business ?

I get a handful of web leads every month from a guy that has a home maintenance website, and looking to launch my own page.
I’m happy to give you his info. Some of these google guys tweak their settings often, though I have no idea what that means.

What city are you serving? @Stephen01

Many companies selling SEO are scam artists.

Good seo is not hard to learn, but it’s time consuming. If you want to outsource it to a qualified company, it’s well worth it. But you’ll probably pay a lot more than $200/mth to get going.

Good SEO companies won’t call you. You find them

I talked to a guy that’s in a bni group that I’m joining who handles several well known businesses in our area and to build my website and handle the seo it’s going to run around $500 per month. He was up front with the fact that it’ll take probably around 8 months to start seeing results. He said a lot of people starting out stop after about 3 months and wind up just wasting their money

$500 a mo is fair for all the work it’d take to rank a website and get leads. I’ve done it in several industries.

I worked with a roofer in a competitive area and told him it would take months to rank which was the truth. He didn’t believe me. Gave up after a couple of months. I was working daily to outrank his competitors. So anyway no everyone is out to scam you all

If your city is not that competitive, it may take a shorter time to rank and get call.

I do seo and digital marketing for the service company I currently work for. Seo companies who promise immediate results are scammers, as it takes at least 6-8 months to begin seeing results. Got my company to the first page for targeted keywords within that timeframe. It is something that definitely needs to be done, but by the right person. Let me know if you have any more questions.

SEO is far from a scam if you work with the proper company. SEO ranges from $200 - $2000 a month depending on the company and should only take 4-6 months to see good positive results. Now, I would never recommend spending more than $300-$600/month for SEO depending on what the company has to offer for the price.

Yes, you can absolutely learn and do SEO for yourself if you have all that extra spare time.

I got my site to rank first page under the roofing keyword, but was a lot of work. Lots of back links, lots of article writing. Listing your business with numerous sites like Manta, Merchant Circle, Porch, etc, and leaving back links to your site. I’m in a pretty competitive market for roofing and made it to the first page in a few months. I had several different websites with different ip addresses which i would back link from. Seo Hosting is who I used to host different sites with different ip’s, under one account. Then Google tweaks their algorithm , and sets you back from time to time. I’m no seo expert, but managed to get satisfactory results on my own at a cost of about 50 bucks a month. Basically just the cost of hosting and domain names. Too, much work for me to maintain my ranking. I’ve since fallen back to where I started. I do a ton of new construction so I’m not dependent on leads. If I were to do it again, I’d use adwords. Costs more, but much faster and somewhat easier. There is still a skill to be learned with a productive adwords campaign. Power washing is not a competitive market for me. I created a google local listing and was immediately at the top of the list. Only about half a dozen power washers in the listings. Been getting calls ever since.
