Scored a Landa water jet on CL, details within

So, I picked up what appears to be a mint condition Landa Water Jet for $250 on craigslist. I put it to use first time on a client’s professionally installed tennis court. I’m a window cleaner most of the time but clients are always asking me to clean other things, so I said yes to the tennis court.

I have a Briggs Home Depot pressure washer:

Engine Brand Briggs and Stratton
Starter Recoil
CC 190 CC
Fuel Tank Size 1.2 Gallons
Pump
Pump Type Axial Cam
Adjustable Pressure No
Chemical Injection Single Detergent Tank
Detergent Tank Capacity 1 gal.
Water Temperature Cold
Water Pressure 3000 PSI
Water Flow 2.3 GPM
Housing
Frame Type 2-Wheel Cart
Wheels NeverFlat
Hose
Hose Storage Hook
Hose Length 30 Feet
Hose Material PVC/Plastic
Hose Diameter 3/8 Inch
Hose Connections Threaded

The court was covered in algae/mildew because it doesn’t drain properly even though its supposed to, so where it doesn’t drain and the water pools up, the algae stuffs is really thick and the land has really rough issues cutting through it, so much that I have to switch to using the wand to cut through it in a timely manner. I am 8 hours into it and haven’t been out there in since Sunday and going out to finish it tomorrow.

My question is, would a higher PSI or higher GPM (or both?) cut through that much faster and in less passes than the current 2.3GPM I am using? Any advice on using he Landa? From experimenting with technique it seems it’s more effective when I kind of move it in a circular overlapping motion as opposed to just going in a straight line then doing a straight pass backwards over that same line.

Thoughts? Opinions? Comments?

Thanks in advance!

Your current machine is about 3 or 4 gpm shy of being enough to run the landa jet. Don’t use a surface cleaner on a tennis court. Blow off the court. Xjet a straight mix of 12.5. Rinse. Single court should take about 2.5 hours.

Believe me, I thought about using a chemical mix to clean it, but since it’s a professionally installed court that is used almost daily, I didn’t want to risk it so she gave me the phone number of the company that installed it and they told me to not use bleach or any other kind of chemical on it. They said they either use surface washers or a specially made surface cleaner with brushes on it similar to a floor buffer/waxer/polisher. They told me it’s a eurethane finish.

Can you tell me what my recommended GPM should be to use the Landa to get consistent fast results? If my current machine is 2.3GPM, And you’re telling me I’m 3-4GPM shy, I should be looking for a 5.3-6.3GPM machine for future use?

Also, the court does look great with little to no swirl marks, but the 8 hours I’ve put in and the 2-3 today I’m doing to finish it would have made me feel better if it was more like 3-5 hours.image|666x500

Minimum gpm for commercial use is 5.5gpm. Don’t let a customer dictate how you do a job. If they don’t like your method, walk away. Pressure doesn’t kill mildew and algae.

Good advice about not letting the customer dictate, I was just scared shitless that if i used bleach at all they were going to come home to a yellow court instead of a green one, and even if I had tested in a corner I didn’t know if it was going to like soak in and look fine on the same day and come back a week later and i would have changed colors or faded or something
