Sanitizing a yard

Good friend of mine bought an expensive dog, turns out she had parvo and now they need to get the grass bleached per the vet/authorities. They’re not worried about the grass getting burned, they’re more concerned about killing any infection.

Ratio is 1:30 using 5%, I’m guessing HW mix is too strong?

Sounds like you need my gun so you can put down the exact ratio recommend :ok_hand: It includes a 77:1 orifice that with 12.5% will get you pretty much what was recommended.

For real though, hw mix is much stronger than what’s recommended here. That’s pretty much about what household cleaners with bleach are. I don’t think you week be able to fine tune a pressure washer that accurately. You don’t need to kill grass and .16% shouldn’t. Plus, you don’t need to soak the grass, just lightly cover it all. The gun I show is actually for lawn treatments and very accurate with the ratios. I’ve tested it with measuring cups to exact ratios down to the oz.

I’m not building a gun just for this, I have a dedicated SH tank and 12v system.

If it works out to .2%, I’ll probably source a 5-8gpm injector to dilute it more than my 3-5 injector and just quickly hose down the yard.

Household cleaners are typically around 2%, I just checked my bottles.

Xjet with the brown orifice should get you what you need. With a 4gpm machine you would get .14% with straight sh

You need to let it sit for about 10min. Regular HW mix not going to hurt a yard, especially this time of year.

I agree with @Racer. In your area grass should be dormant. Treat, dwell and maybe retreat in a week. Get it in before the grass comes out of dormancy.

I get that you already have equipment that can do this, but just to clarify, you don’t have to build anything. Just order it as-is and hook a hose to it and start spraying. The gun, a gallon jug of SH and a garden hose is all you need. If it where me, between having to source and install a new injector, test its ratio, then batch mix SH to get your number right, it’s easier to just spend $100 and have a tool that will put down exactly what you want.

I’m assuming it would need to be plain water rinsed afterward?

What would you charge to downstream my lawn?? It’s about 1.4 acres. On a hill. It’s pretty steep but not really all that steep.

This is crazy talk. There are to many structures to wash out there than trying to figure out how to spray bleach in a yard. Most states require a pesticide license to do that anyway

Hey, you need to settle down & get back to your pontoon. We were having a good time here, then you showed up, and now… we’re still having a good time. By the way, you caught any good bass lately? Me neither. I ain’t even been fishing yet. We need to step up our game!

Do you typically rinse the grass after a HW?

I don’t typically HW grass…?

I don’t wash grass, but I do rinse the nearby landscape that my HW mix may have run down onto or that may have had overspray/drift get to it.

I get HW mix on the grass all the time. I rinse bushes, but not grass and have never killed a blade I know of.

Same, I never rinse grass, only plants next to the house. Never killed anything
