Do we not know how to check ball joints?

They produce symptoms when they are that worn out.

Was checked over by my mechanic 2 months ago when I bought it. Had new tires put on same day. It’s been a really hard winter and I would guess it wore out quick. I am meticulous about my vehicles.

You need to change mechanics…ball joints do not wear that quickly regardless of the mission of the vehicle.

Also, need to learn to recognize the symptoms…worn to this extent is evident in driving the vehicle and they make NOISE.

That vehicle was dangerous and did not need to be on the highway.

ok… so things just never break…

Again its a plow truck that has a thousand pounds hanging on the front. Going up and down thousands of times per snow. It has been in 11 snow events since I bought it. Things break. Nothing showed signs and it was not a danger on the road.

That’ll buff right out!

kidding, looks like it happened in reverse. Good thing it didn’t happen at speed!

Yes very glad it was at low speed. Where he was plowing has a huge dip. This snow is SUPER heavy so we are having to get a good speed going.

Glad no one was hurt. And for ball joints making a noise or causing driving issues, Had a set of MOOG installed on a Sat morning and driving to work on Monday the joint snapped in half. No noise, no clatter, not even a bump in the road, just snapped. Hey, it happens. Again, glad no one got hurt.

Almost every plow truck in Michigan could snap a ball joint tomorrow and today have very little issues. A few hundred pounds on the front makes it hard to diagnose. Southerners don’t know about plowing snow lol

I was gonna “buy the best” and put Moog ball joints on my 4Runner a couple of years ago (hey, they have a lifetime warranty, they HAVE to be good quality) until I saw a bunch of broken ball joint pictures on the Toyota forums. Almost all of them were Moogs. Some were only days or weeks old. ALL broke with no warning whatsoever. I’ll only go with OEM critical parts from now on.

Mood used to to be some of the best stuff you could get…Trash well marketed is all they are nowadays.
