These are my favorite kind of job, with the best profit. Its rust from the A/C Drip line, make sure you ask if they fixed the problem with the a/c first or the stain will start to come back. Also you should have a clause in writing somewhere that states the stain can/will come back. Basically dont guarantee that the stain will be gone for ever. Should take you 30 min in actual cleaning time, but i like to stay a full hour to give them their money worth.
This is a restoration job, charge for it. If i was called only to remove the rust i would be at $400, maybe $300 if i really wanted a great picture. With a house wash, probably be $250-300. With F9 you may use about $20 dollars in chems, if that. Most of the time i use less than $5-$10. Pre wet the surface a little, not soaked more like mist if you can, and once rust is gone rinse the entire side. If you dont you may remove a noticeable amount of oxidation.
I had a similar job, but on aluminum. I used a brush with some OneRestore and the stain came right out. No need to be suiting up and spraying acid from a ladder.
Yep. You don’t want to suit up and spray it while climbing a ladder. Just brush it on. Stay far away from that stuff. That’s my point. Oxalic won’t work.
We actually don’t charge for rust removal on residential. It’s included in the housewash. Meaning you need to pay use for a housewash. This has stopped the the problem with loosing money buy doing rust removal only.
You know i was wondering about this, i was going to make a post about it, asking who simply includes it as part of the house wash, I’ve been tempted to, but the fact that you can charge extra for it kinda deters that idea
I charge extra because it’s a specialty service and the OA isn’t cheap. Customers are happy that I can remove it and they pay! I usually charge double what the OA I’m going to use. Don’t leave $$$ on the table!
I take care of small spots for free but charge for big ones like that. Taking rust off vinyl is super cheap and easy… spray a little muriatic acid on and rinse off… that one might cost $3 in chemicals
For now i just did that test spot to see if it worked. I’ll quote the customer tonight. He’s been wanting to get this off for years. Even considered changing all the siding. But i think x-jet would be too weak.
Also now that i’ve tried it i think it would make an uneven spot where it would overspray on surrounding surfaces if i did x-jet.
