Ruined a stainless steel mini fridge

Alright…

So I was doing a deck and a screen enclosure and what I think happened is, some bleach fell down from the screen enclosure onto the deck. When I surface cleaned the deck, a bit of overspray got on a stainless steel mini fridge… or it happened when I was rinsing. Either way, lesson learned…

Is there any way this can be polished, or should I go ahead and order a new cover? The cover is about $200…

I thought sh couldn’t stain stainless steel? I’m curious how to fix this as well. My Midwest hydromixer cover also has similar staining I would like to take off.

Pretty sure what happens is bleach takes the layer of oxide of the stainless. Which then allows it to rust and so on…

@Hotshot works magic on big rigs, sure he might have a suggestion for a little fridge like that

Aluminum brightener should fix that. Napa auto sells it for a local pickup.

I would start with something simple like stainless steel cleaner then work up to more aggressive products.

That’s what I was thinking! But then maybe some straight 12.5 spilling on it may be a different outcome. Pretty sure that’s what happened to my cover…

That ia calcium built up, plus moisture over time.
Homeowners responsibility.
More iver if it is outside exposed to the wrather and temperature changes…
Think of it this way…
A house with oxidation, built up. Once u wash it and it is clean and dried you see blotches.
Yoir faut? No.
But if you knew that there was ixidatiin yoi would of told the xlient what to expect and he would be ok right.
Niw if yiu did not notice nkr told the client what to expect… then worry.
This is what happened to that fridge.

Oil based stainless steel cleaner.

Little veggie oil and a cloth, polish that baby up like new

I was thinking the same. I carry Oil based and Water based SS cleaner with me. But once that Oil burns out per say, Im afraid those streaks will re appear. All the oil is doing in hydrating the SS.

At that point I would suggest it is no longer your problem

appears to me that’s the old
oils that were on it from use(finger prints etc), and it’s been distributed with water.

They are threatening to take me to small claims court, which I wouldn’t be surprised as they seem to be excited about trying to rip me off. Now they are saying something else is messed up and the door looks even worse… after I polished the door and it looks brand new. Here is a pic after I polished it.

I wd40 all door locks after a wash just to be safe. They do tend to get catchy after a wash if not taped off. Also what did you use to restore the door?

I use triflo it’s amazing. Was recommended by my locksmith buddy.

What Did you clean it with?

Stainless steel polisher made by chemical guys. It came out beautifully, however I still received my first bad review from these customers, even after offering to pay for the door.
