Rubber Playground Clean

Hey guys
Cleaning this community centre in about a weeks time. Some of the flooring is rubber, the same as what they use on playgrounds. Just wondering if any of you have worked on these before and the best way to go about it. Planning to try ds about a 2% mix onto these walls and use low pressure as they look a bit fragile. If this this doesn’t work I will use my x jet for a hotter mix. Open to advice, thanks.

You won’t get 2% out of your downstream. Maybe mix some 2% in a pump sprayer and do a test area

With a hot mix, be sure to know where the run off is going to try and prevent plant life destruction.

I’ve washed a few splash pads for the town I work for and I typically just mix up 2-3% in a pump up and apply it that way. Blow off as much dirt and debris as your can FIRST. There will be lots and lots of dirt that comes out from in between all the crevices everywhere in the rubber mulch. All the little pockets in the textured surface hold all those little grains of sand pretty well. I have used a small surface cleaner with limited success, but ended up doing a lot of wand work to make it look better.

Try to talk them in to finding a way to prevent the dirt from running off into the area in the first place. Perhaps some of the plastic or metal edging between the soil/turf area and the walking area.

thanks for the comment, also would it be better to leave surfactant out of the mix for this job? Just a guess but im thinking the rubber is gonna soak it up and be a pain to rinse.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t use a surfactant, but, in the photos it looks pretty shady so if you don’t have any concerns about the sun baking it off then you can certainly back down on the surfactant amount used. I’m not sure that rubber is going to absorb the surfactant used :face_with_monocle:
