Rookie Mistake

So something pretty hilariously-dumb happened to me the other day during a wash. I was finishing up and was going to DS the back of the house. So I switch my chem hose from buffer tank to chem tank (my set up is not optional I know, I need to order the 3 way valve for the chem hose) and noticed it wasn’t pulling soap. I have an array of DS injectors but if it’s the first time it fails, I usually just disconnect, take it apart, get the ball unstock, and get back to work (takes about 2 mins).
Anyway, as I’m getting the little ball unstock my idiot self has this genius idea to just leave the ball out, I mean, if there’s no ball is just going to pull right? and then the ball will never get stuck again because there’s no ball anymore!! its fool proof!!!
WRONG! lol it did pull as expected, but as soon as I let go of the trigger all the back pressure went to that hose and it just blew out of the chem tank. I immediately shut it off, and of course in hindsight that makes every bit of sense.
Anyway hope some of you guys find my story amusing and if you were by any chance thinking about removing that little ball, dont. lol

No reason to take it apart…just smack it with a crescent wrench a few times while your on the trigger.

But that is funny lol

I’ll try that from now on!

Reminds me of of time instead of mixing my usual degreaser mix i decide to drop the DI tube into a straight full 5 gallon bucket of degreaser, that happens to be the night my DI spring decides to break and push water INTO my degreaser bucket…fun fun

I forgot I have a ladder rack now. I got in the bed of the truck bent over to get a Powerade out of the cooler and lights out. The ladder rack is well-built it did not budge when my head hit it. I did see stars like on Bugs Bunny though

Ouch!

A baseball cap actually does wonders to protect you from minor head whacks like that. I used to wear one all the time when I was loading trucks. It saved me countless times.

Nice rack.

Definitely a answer from the head of safety lol. What PPE do you wear on the job?

Depends on the job. If turbo or pressure washing I usually wear a face sheild. If spraying anything stronger than normal DS I wear a half mask.

Need to purchase ansi perception eyeglasses but I can’t see a thing without my glasses.

I’m more of a do as I say not as I do kinda safety guy. My personal life ppe use doesn’t dictate how we do things in the industrial setting.
