I bought my 7gpm roof pump a couple months ago and it is as working great up until today, it builds up pressure but as soon as I pull the trigger it releases it and then the flow is basically non existent. Theres no air in the line, the battery is fully charged, no leaks, here’s a video.
I would probably pull the pump head off and see if any trash is stuck in the rubber valves. They have like 5 or so flat rubber valves or flappers that create the pumping action. I had some little black plastic pieces from the manufacturing process that was keeping a few of mine open all the time. My 7 gpm Delavan did it after the first use. I don’t think I had the exact same symptoms but my wouldn’t pump so it’s probably worth checking.
Do you have a accumulator
No…I decided to go without at first. I haven’t had any issues though except for the one time I had trash in the valves. I have nothing against trying one I’ve just seen plenty say they don’t use them. You might’ve accidentally replied to me and meant to ask the original poster though so you can troubleshoot his pump. I’m open ears either way.
No accumulators you dont need them
Yeah it sounds like something is blocking flow. On my little bs electric washer, it was a grain of dirt in the nozzle. On my gas, was a piece of crud stuck in the same spot.
Change the.gun get a ball valve
No I don’t
The gun definitely does not seem like the problem. I’ve tried taking it off the flow is still crap
show us how you have it wired and plumbed.
Do you use an accumulator?
Absolutely not. They will just fail. Ling and short accumulators are good for people who spray stop spray stop. For the most part roof washing doesn’t work that way. It’s just another thing to go wrong on a job
Wait how is the flow even close to being the same with or without the gun?
That’s what I’ve heard too and why I chose not to get one. My 12v has worked just fine for me without one. It would be interesting to hear how many people do or don’t use them. I know I’ve read other threads where guys started off with one but got sick of replacing it and threw it in the trash.
What size house are you running?
Doesn’t sound like the gun it the problem. Just making spit balling here.
1.Try putting a garden hose in the pick up tube and forcing whatever is stuck out of it. DO the same with the hoses disconnected to the pump to eliminate that too.
2. Do you run it through your hose reel? I took mine apart last week and the amount of corrosion in the reel to the swivel was crazy, if you do run it through there, a piece of corrosion could have broken loose and it would kill off the flow immediately.
3. @marinegrunt already covered the motor getting plugged.
4. Is the pressure switch working properly? You can run a jumper (paper clip will work) across the leads to the top of the pump head to bypass the pressure switch. If it’s a problem it might not be letting the pump build enough pressure, though they usually just quit working.
5. Check every electrical connection, it’s usually on or off situation but if something is working loose there is an outside chance it’s creating a low voltage situation but that will usually blow the in line fuse.
I’m out of ideas, good luck.
I think your right
Its air or a debris clog. Do you have a short line you can purge the system with? If not and you have a drop stick try forcing it into liquid with the system running. Not sure if that’s good for the pump but it will work. We had this problem a few times before I added a transfer valve for filling the tanks with sh. Now if it happens I just perge the system with water and it recovers. I still run an accumulator just becuse it was in the system plan when I bought it. Ive changed the system alot since then but kept the accumulator. From my understanding it’s supposed to increase the life of the pump. Not sure if that’s legit or just a way to sell accumulators, but it’s worked for me.
