I’ve been cleaning roofs for about a year now. Averaged sized, mostly walk-able, single story houses are taking me 4 to 6 hours. I should add that most homes around here are tile and do not have gutters so runoff is an issue.
I usually clean the roof in sections. I water the plants, spray the roof, water the plants again and move to the next section. When I’m done I’ll go back and touch up areas that need it…then of course I have to hose all the plants off again. I’ll have to lug the hoses back and forth across the yard several times if the touch ups require another application.
I feel like my method is taking too long but I’m not sure how to speed it up. I wonder if I’m spending too much time rinsing plants? Should I use a stronger mix to avoid multiple touch ups (I always start at 50/50)? Instead of working in sections should I just spray the whole roof at once?
My question is more for the solo guys: what is your routine when you wash a roof? How are you guys finishing in 2 to 3 hours? Thanks!
