Have a quick ? I have a roof to clean this coming up Monday, no one locally has 12.5% SH. Is it possible I could use chlorine? If so I do have a 35 gallon mixing Chemical tank, what would be the right mix.
Any advice would help.
What do you mean by chlorine? Chlorine is actually a gas. Did you mean Clorox Bleach?
Forgive me for it’s really late. I could have swore I read that some where, where they use pool chlorine but I could be wrong.
Yeah, you’re on the right track. People do say “pool chlorine” but it’s actually SH. The same stuff you’ve been using all along. The only difference, if any, will be the percentage. Some places might have it in 12.5%. Just ask for sodium hypochlorite like you always do. You might just have to adjust your mix strength depending on the percentage you find. A lot of people use pool stores as their sh supplier. I assume you’re in Florida. I’ve heard of guys in FL that have pools store where you can pump SH just like it’s a gas station. Pull up, fill your drum or tank, and pay $1 a gallon.
Naw live n Louisiana brother. I am just going to pop my head into a pool store tomorrow and pray they have what I need. I am just not sure about the mix is all. Thank you for your advice so far, anymore would help.
Why would you sell a roof cleaning when you don’t know the basics of roof cleaning
If anything you can go to the dollar store and buy regular bleach. Bleach is sh. You can get it in 8% there.
How do you normally mix your roof mix when you use 12.5% sh? If you use 8% sh you just wouldn’t add as much water to your mix.
If you go to the dollar store just don’t get the “splashless” bleach. It also has sodium hydroxide in it. Just get good old regular generic bleach.
Never did sell it the guy ask me to try so what’s the harm.
I’m not sure what you’re saying. Is it your first roof?
I was replying to the other gentleman.
It certainly is. I’ve been washing for 4 years now just never fooled with any roofs b4.
Okay…just wasn’t sure what you meant. The mix is basically the same as house wash mix just stronger. Seems most use about a 3% sh mix plus surfactant of choice. Depends on how dirty it is. You have to be careful about killing grass and landscaping. A lot of guys bag the gutters to keep from killing the grass. There a lot of info on here about roofs.
THAT is the question…
You have been washing for 4 years but dont know what chlorine or SH is? How have you been washing in the past?
Dont get me wrong everyone has to start somewhere but to do a roof cleaning with out knowing even the basic is not going to end well. Just because im curious, how do you plan to clean this roof (what machine will you use)?
