I’ve been rolling previous paver jobs with seal. I haven’t used a dripless pump sprayer yet, but it seems like more work. Does it yield better results? I’ve heard the correct way is to spray and back roll it as you go, then use cardboard to shield surrounding plants, etc.
Do you guys see any pros to spraying?
Also, my main seller up here in MI is “Euclid Chemical Super Diamond Clear” a solvent based sealer.
Sometimes I find myself scratching my head thinking…was this surface previously sealed with solvent or water based sealer?
I hear if it was sealed with a water base previously, solvent based will look like crap when I re-apply.
I haven’t ran into any issues yet, but if that’s the case i would like to switch to water based for less headaches in the future. and that leads me to looking for recommendations for a water based sealer.
I just sealed a small paver driveway using a waterbase high gloss H&C from sherwin williams. It was bad. Left a kinda of haze. The H&C oil base is better I think. I also find polymeric sand works better. Tightens the joints and easier sweeping. Just cost a lot more.
I can’t remember what the coverage rate is. I’m sure you can look it up. But, I recently sealed a brick home and only used 6 gallons for the entire home.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I am also using a chapin red tank. Although the tip the tank came with isn’t spraying evenly. JHH Did you have this Problem? It Sprays in a fan, but the outer edges of the spray pattern shoot out more sealer than in the middle, if that makes sense?
Jeg,
Check out the Echo 3 gallon backpack sprayers at HD. They are about $100 but they work great. You have to rinse them out as soon as your done and I always leave a little clean water in them why storing for my next sealing job. Once you switch to spaying you’ll nevvvvvvver go back to rolling. If the sprayer breaks, just bring it back to HD for a new one… they have a lifetime warranty on them.
