I am looking at setting up an RO in my shop specifically for washing at car lots. My question is will I need a carbon filter before it? We are 9n well water where our shop is located.
Also I have read that you shouldn’t run DI water through your burner coils, would it be the Same thing with RO water?
Thanks
Yes i would. Carbon filters are cheap but RO is not, might as well protect it. I’ve never heard that about the coils…I know my truckmount carpet machine says the heat exchanger warranty is voided if you DONT soften the water that you run through it.
DI Water shouldn’t be run through the coils because DI water is so pure it’s corrosive and has electrical conductivity resistance measured in “microohms”. There’s a lot of tubing and hose materials that would retain the ‘ultra pure’ corrosiveness of DI water from the tank to the coils, so you’d have to read up on what to use/not to use, storage tanks, etc…
RO should absolutely have minimum 1 carbon filter before it, highly suggested to have 2 if on city water. Since you’re on a well, I’d suggest doing a Sediment & Carbon filter (2 filters total).
