Rip It! or F-18? Remove semi-solid

I’m interested im trying both of these deck cleaners, Rip It! and F-18. Next job is removing a semi solid stain. Would you recommend either of these products? How about any particular neutralizer to follow with?

Thank you

I’m curious what did you decide to go with and what was the outcome. Feel free to call me at 4432711089 my name is Rob

I went with the F-18 stripper and F-8 neutralizer. Should be here tomorrow and will be testing out Friday. Ill contact with results Rob

Any before and after pics???

Please share results! The house my wife and 8 just bought has semi solid stain on all the decking and I would like to remove it.

This is where i’m at after 2 passes of f-18. 12oz to 1 gallon water. 30 min dwell time. I can’t seem to get it completely removed. Original stain was semi-solid. Anyone know if i’m missing something here? I used two bottles of the f-18 now, applied 1 gallon at a time witg a pump up sprayer. Thanks

Looks like a tuff sold stain… I don’t know too much about wood, I am still learning but what if u spray a stronger f-18 mix??

On another thread i spoke with @Innocentbystander and he said it looks like an acrylic stain, and no amount of deck stripper is going to finish this particular job. Onto either sanding like crazy or replacing most the boards.

Yeah, sanding looks required. I’ve heard that a quick scuff sand BEFORE applying stripper can really help but I’ve never tried it.

F-18 works great I recently did a job and removed a solid stain from a pretty good size deck. Followed by the neutralizer from pressure tek

@Mizzles77 do you know what type of staim it was that you removed? Just curious. This was a Behr Acrylic and it did not remove it entirely as you can see in the photos.

I’m not sure what Type it was but it wasn’t an acrylic it was an outdoor stain just solid some spots took multiple applications towards the edges but with about 30 min dwell time and a turbo nozzle it wasn’t bad at all the hand rails are a different story lol be careful bidding decks I’ve learned from experience

Is it safe to use a turbo nozzle on a fence? Will it cause furring of the wood? I’m thinking that you just have to be not to close, not too far for it to be effective but I’m afraid to try it!

HD-80 mixed with (propylene glycol) low tox antifreeze acts like a clinging stripper and accelerates the stripper. I always tell a homeowner, especially with semi-solid stains that vertical surfaces are nearly impossible to strip a hundred percent.
