Results from first Angie's List "Big Deal"

Well, I finally finished my Angie’s List “Big Deal” and I think it went really well. We decided to run a deal with a house wash up to 2,500 sq. ft. and 15 exterior windows cleaned for $249. Any addition square footage is an extra 15 cents per square foot and any extra windows are an extra $7 per window. All upsells go through my company and not Angie’s List and we were able to upsell each one that we’ve worked for so far by at least $100.00.

Here are the results after 5 days and after paying Angie’s List their 28%:

Aside from this, we had 2 that didn’t go through Angie’s List and paid directly and a few other inquires that I’m sure will use us soon, but didn’t sign up right away.

I’d say next time I will not include window cleaning as it’s a much more time consuming service when screens are in place, but we wanted to get some more experience with our waterfed pole anyway.

I would definitely consider running these deals whenever it gets slow for us, and unlike groupon and living social customers, Angie’s List customer prefer a good company to do quality work rather than the cheapest company out there. They also don’t take 50% of the deal, which was a big plus for me.

Thanks for the update, Phil. Looks more promising than Groupon.

Thanks for posting looks like it worked rather well for you

Some very promising numbers Phil.

Thanks all, it did seem to work pretty well… Now to try to get it all done before the season ends, that’s the tough part!

If not 50%, what is Angies cut? I run a storefront deal and it only charges 9% of a sale. Also no requirement to offer huge half off deal.

I paid 28% to them, talked down from 35%. We have a storefront deal too, but this was good to run for when business slowed some.

I tried to work with living social on a pw one and they completely dropped the ball, and it was a 40-50% share. I need to bulk up my angies list reviews. Seems like you did well. Congrats. When do you guys start to winterized the units in Baltimore? Oh, and does anyone from “the wire” work for you?

I am winterizing my pressure washer later this afternoon. My guys are finishing up the last
gutters of the season today as the snow is flying.

It all looks like it is wrapping up to a great end of the season, especially with the timing and weather.

Now all we have is to finish up with the windows we have left on the schedule!

Hey Dave,

I think we’ll be packing it up in the next 2 weeks and just cleaning windows until XMas. After that, we’ll probably just take it easy and ramp up for the next cleaning season.
