Residential driveway marks

Howdy,

Still pretty new. Any idea what these marks might be on this driveway? Didn’t notice anything before I started. Did I somehow damage it? 2500 psi / 5.5gpm…20" whisper wash pretreated with housewash. Thanks.

Was it still sealed

I’m not sure. Do you think those spots are where the sealer was taken off? Driveway is ~6 years old I believe.

Did you check to see if there was still sealer on it before you washed it

I did not.

Is it completely dry in that picture

My guess is sealer issue. Their’s some guys with more concrete experience floating around so take the advise with a grain of salt and hope they chime in.

Yeah, this picture is a few days after it was done, no rain.

It rained when they poured the concrete. They covered it with plastic and hoped for the best. Anywhere the plastic was touching the surface when it dried messed up the crème. At least that’s what I think

Nothing wrong with what you did. That’s fairly common and as IBS alluded to, is based by the amount of water added to the pour. Often when it’s hot or even not, finishers will add water when floating it out. We see that in about 80% of the driveways here. Can be several causes.

Here is a good article that anyone who does concrete work should read.

That was a good read.

Thanks for the input, fellas. I appreciate it.

The discoloration in your first picture is from knee boards being used when finishing the concrete. It prevents knee marks and cushioned the finishers knees while troweling the concrete.

The second picture you posted is a decorative design called mirror jointing/edging.
When mirror jointing, the concrete is broomed slightly wetter than usual, then the finisher crawls back onto the concrete and retool the joints leaving the tool marks. After he finishes his knee board marks are rebroomed out. That’s what’s causing the discoloration on the concrete. You did nothing wrong.

If not, you better starting covering your butt on every job.
