Releasing Agent

Hi All,

Had a project recently that came to me that I was unsure of how to tackle. I searched on here, without any results. Posting in case someone else runs into this situation.

A customer had a concrete pad laid for him and it was stamped. Contractor said he would be back to clean the releasing agent and seal the pad, he did not come back. Not an uncommon thing from this contractor from what I hear. Two months went by and customer asked if I could help. I said I would have a look see and go from there.

I like tackling new jobs I haven’t done, but with little information on the subject I was a bit hesitant. I told customer I had a plan, and would proceed if he would like too over a few days to see how it’s progresses, he was happy to agree.

He didn’t have water hooked up yet. The few videos and information I came across said to pressure wash the releasing agent off, I have a direct drive pw and am unable to draw supplied water. The method I decided to use is to pre soak with my 12v, apply muratic acid, scrub and then rinse. It worked great. I initially started with a 40:1 mix of muratic, but found that that 20:1 was the sweet spot in my case.

At the end of the day, customer was very happy, left a great review and post in some local fb groups and I’ve had a few calls since for some end of season jobs. Pictures below.
