Red dirt or red clay at the base of houses

If you live anywhere close to the south, you have seen the red stains at the base of houses caused by red clay or dirt. Does anyone have a pretty good method or removing these stains? Some other forums said acids, but I wanted to see what your opinions are on the matter.

You can find it on your keyboard right between F8 and F10.
