Rain work for guys that are new

I see a lot of new guys post on here what do you do when it rains??
My wife asked me this morning how the weather was where I was working so I sent her these thought I’d share with the newbies

You wash like a boss! That’s what you do when it rains!

I’m not a fan of rain in the winter time when it’s 40 degrees outside but I don’t mind it a bit on days like today 76 and 89% humidity bring on the rain!

It’s workable but I don’t like it due to not being able to pre or post treat. It’s ok for maintained concrete as long as you don’t have to use degreaser. It’s not always the best option imo. I’ll reschedule much of the time. On the bright side of things most of these summer showers I see don’t last all day. Come and go.

@Harold…I got lucky…lol…had just enough time for my Degreaser to dwell…
It went downhill quick after that

@Harold yep…just bought a stock replacement from northern tool for $69…
To get me back up and running…then ordered 2 more online for backups at $11 a piece…lol the price of instant repair and convenience…
From now on my backups are going to have backups!

Give this pull cord a try. I haven’t had one break since I started using it on all my small engines and that was probably over 10 years ago.

Days with a light rain are my favorite to work. I can soap a whole house and rinse all at once, don’t have to worry as much about plants and no one bothers me. I love the rain.

Not that I don’t wash in the rain, but make sure you check your local waste water laws out really good. Where I live, thanks to another org, it’s illegal to wash flatwork in the rain. That goes for commercial and residential. Sucks, but the fine for getting caught is a good bit more than any residential drive is worth. And I don’t even live remotely close to Cali.

Gotta love a Hinderliter lol

Dang @BigJake where are you out of?

You know it…I mean, come on, a several thousand dollar fine AND jail time?! For just sediment getting into a storm drain…in Georgia of all places. Not like a heavy rain wasn’t already gonna wash it down there anyways. We all know that would never happen naturally.

Dang I’m going to start making a list of places I wouldn’t live and I think George is going to be one of them LOL

Northeast of Atlanta, in Gwinnett County. Our county pressure washing bmp’s sheet literally has the pwna seal stamped on the last page.

There are some beautiful spots in North GA, no doubt, but I’d never in a million years move anywhere closer to Atlanta. The county I’m in is at over a million in population currently. Few years ago it was just around 750k. I want to move further out, but I do like the fact that most of my work is within 15 miles of where I live. Wouldn’t mind having a spot up on Lake Chatuge for the weekends though. Maybe retire up there one day.

Forsyth here. Regs don’t seem as strict here, but just starting up and trying to get my act together, any other counties to avoid? Storm drains are keeping me up at night

Get a few sediment berms for storm drains and don’t pretreat if you’re worried about it. I typically just presoak with water, and post treat afterwards if needed. Post treat won’t flow down unless rained on right afterwards. Funny thing is, I’ve actually washed sediment and crud IN the storm drains here in Gwinnett, and had a city official (in Gwinnett County, this was Peachtree City) come out checking on progress. Talk about an odd situation.

I’m from Gwinnett, that’s awesome

Got any family still here? I had an older couple I washed for who either had a son or grandson they said moved out Midwest and was starting a wash company.
