The bigger question is what radio station? What time of the day ?

Are you trying to catch 40 year old moms in the morning on the way to work?

Or Susan whose retired at home during the day?

Who your ad is getting to is more important then the ad yourself.

I’ve yet to run any radio ads, because everyone I know that’s my ideal customer (40 year old stay at home mom) has Sirius XM or use Spotify etc.

Did they give you the statistics of listeneners timeline throughout the day and when your ad would run?

There catchy salesmen will say can reach up to —- but they have actual numbers.

Here’s the stations and times. 99.9 102.7 and AM radio WIBQ

I know there are a lot of factors that go into whether or not something will be successful. Just looking to see what do you all think of the content and delivery of the message

Before sharing any thoughts and experience with radio, just a quick question to all on the board -

Who listens to the radio as in terrestrial AM or FM stations not including Sirius or XM.

I’m not a huge music guy but I usually have the radio on for noise. I’m too busy brainstorming projects or something so I don’t really pay much attention to it. I do catch certain ads in the morning when I take my daughter to school though. I guess recently I’ve been listening to music on my phone from a guy that was a few years younger than me in high school. He’s pretty close to going big time. Has opened at some smaller venues for Willie Nelson, Travis Tritt, Jamey Johnson, Chris Knight, and a few others. He writes his own stuff. Google “American Freeborn Kids” and watch the music video he made. It’s pretty good and so are some of his others. Anyways, my wife and daughter love music but they normally bluetooth music from their phones.

I’m sure quite a few people listen to the radio on the way to work and especially guys. Women on the other hand can’t drive 30 minutes to work with their mouths shut so I would imagine that they’re either playing their favorite song list or yapping to their sister or girlfriend on the phone.

It’ll be interesting to see how the radio ad works out. Hopefully it’s a big hit. I think it’s worth trying at least once because different areas could have different results.

That’s a neat ad. I’m not sure which one I like I better. I’m torn on how important it is in having your web address or phone number in the ad. It’s easy to google a company name and I would imagine most people do before calling. I don’t know enough about ads to where I can offer a valuable opinion but I like it.

I don’t listen to any local radio. Heck I don’t even watch commercials on television. I still stand by my suggestion of YouTube ads being a better option. You just have to remember you only have 5 seconds to get their attention. I would imagine at least in my area the Christian stations would be the only ons with at least a shot of getting a good rio.

I agree with the youtube ads. I mentioned somewhere above that I intentionally start tv shows 15 minutes late or just dvr them so I don’t have to watch any commercials. I haven’t watched a commercial in I don’t know how long. I don’t but I’m sure many play their own music for the same reason. Everyone watches youtube videos though. I think that’s a great idea. I don’t know what they cost but I’m sure they’re reasonable. They probably have to be in order to be competitive with all of the different ways you can advertise online. Not that there are a ton but you have google, yelp, yahoo, home advisor, facebook, and bing so even IBS can see ads. I’m sure there are more.

Another local company told me that he’s had excellent luck with it. Surprisingly I can’t remember who it was but he wasn’t in our industry. He said you can set your audience just like Facebook before it updated and removed a lot of your options. I’ll be trying it in another month or so.

Radio is a shot in the dark. My crystal ball tells me that you will think better of throwing your money away on such a frivolous advertising campaign.

If you want a good return on your investment, hire a couple of kids to pass out fliers in a neighborhood where you are working. GUARANTEED return, and it won’t cost you NEARLY as much.
