Quick injector question (SOLVED)

That’s an interesting hypothesis

I’m pretty sure the barb fitting can be replaced with a standard 1/8” npt x 1/4” barb, if that turns out to be the culprit, @anon26752184

I’ve had the 1/4 poly line on that stupid plastic 1/4 barb lay in the sun ,and it gets loose, creating a vacuum leak. Hope that’s his problem, easy fix with a lil hose clamp

Thanks so much for all the replies I woke up to!

I’m just heading out to my first job - I’m going to try the ball valve and see if it’s wnough coming through as I literally don’t have time for anything else.

It kept me up all night!

(It’s sucking with out the pipe, very strong at the injector. The hand in the tank option, it’s not sucking until you cover it, then as soon as you take your finger off, the suction stops. I’ve looked at the oring and it looks fine. More later…)

:+1:t2:

I’ve had this happen to me. It sucked fine until the chem actually entered the injector then quit. Everything looked fine inside the injector. I took it off put another one on and it worked fine. I have no clue why it stopped working.

I know it’s not what you want to hear but you probably need a new injector. I can buy them from about 20 mins away and I still keep 4 on my trailer at all times.

So, if that is one of the fancy dultmier injectors look in the tube and see if the orifice snapped off and is clogging the tube

Thanks guys.

I’ve stripped it down again as it didn’t draw anything more than bubbles today. The chem tank level didn’t drop after 30 mins of it running.

Aside from some slight “furring” of the oring, it’s all working mechanically.

Wonder if that would be enough to stop it?

There’s no air leaks 100% sure. I’ve swapped the tank and the pipe, so not that. When you blow gently into the blue barb, it sealed, blow hard and you can hear the ball move back and allow air in. So the mechanics of it work. And there IS great suction.

Here are some pics…

So is it working?

Count it as a lesson learned. You should have spares for your spares especially if you dont have access to things like we do here in the US.

Unscrew the orifice inside of the injector should be a flat head. And replace it. How long have you been using that injector.

@sgb yes, it is working now, but not in that post, I meant it was mechanically working, all the bits were ok and the ball was stopping the flow.

@AquaTeamPowerWash I do have other injectors, but they are regular brass 10% draw ones that are only good for house washing. This one is my “special” one (20%) and I didn’t want to give up on it, ha ha  Point taken though :+1:t2: I’ve ordered another backup from a great company called Paint Hose

@Firefighter4hire thanks for the tip. I’m not actually sure what happened, but it IS working again now.

The only thing I did was to drop the hose into the top of the tank and it worked. Bizarre.

Mine has always has been plumbed from the bottom and has worked flawlessly for many years like that.
