Questions about my pump

Ok here is my unit im starting out with. Simpson 4200 gpm. Wanna set up either x or m jet but am kinda wondering exactly where i do this. I see the siphon hose is in line with the outlet hose connection. Also what does the black + or - knob do? Restrict my psi??

4200 psi 4 gpm*****

Xjet Mjet goes at end of gun. Search on how to set unloader then leave it alone

X or m jet? You probably meant xjet or downstream, although you can downstream with an m5 adjustable nozzle (M5DS).

Xjet goes on the end of your wand, and draws soap out of a bucket you carry around with you.

Downstreaming uses the siphon hose at your pump. You can use the built in port, but most people unscrew it and plug it. Then buy a downstream injector from a vendor, and a jrod with the appropriate nozzles for your machine.

Most people downstream, but some x-jet.

Black knob is the unloader. I think some manufacturers tell you to turn it up or down to increase or decrease pressure, but that’s not the best way. You should set your unloader to max flow, and then regulate pressure by changing tips on your gun.

Keep searching and reading. All of the basic questions you will have have been answered in great detail many times… plus you will find the answers to the questions you will be asking next, in the process.

@tireshark what do you use the most?

Thanks bud tried to answer this question on my own teadong for the past week and had no luck so had to ask

I understand. All of the info is confusing and overwhelming at first. By all means, if you have tried to find the answer about something and cant, or dont understand it, then dont feel bad about asking, no matter how basic.

I downstream mostly. I have an x-jet and 12V also.

The unloader probably preset form factory. Get yourself a pressure gauge and check your psi using the red or green tip. Long as it’s close to specs, then probably fine. Leave it the hell alone until it blows up. Check the flow of your machine just in a bucket with no nozzle. If both are good then unloader is set. There are a couple of videos on adjusting if not close to specs.
