Yes, And the hose will eventually chatter it self to an earlier death when you have it coiled on the reel.
Huh I have never had one break on the other gun side. I unroll all the hose seams to happen at the reel for me the only thing I could figure is that it gets rolled up so tight against the reel. That’s why I run the whip in the beginning. But hotshot I can understand in your business washing trucks that you would tear up the working end
98 % of the time we are washing in a gravel parking lot. The hoses get beat to a premature death no matter what I do or use and break At any length past it laying off the trailer. I run 1 wire good year hose now@ 150 ft with no whips. I used to run whips with expensive 2 wire heavy hose ,but it was useless in my environment. Rubber hates rock.
60 day old $90 muck boots
You know they will replace them for free
The 1 wire is working well for you? I am on cement for all my cleanings except one and that is mostly dirt/pea gravel.
I’m getting the wife to find the receipt. I bought them on amazon, this time I got them off muck boot site. They gotta sale going on these today
Bought 2 pair @ $75 a pair, free shipping, we shall see
2 months solid on the 1 wire hose man. So far so good. 2 step everything through it. Even the scary HF …but I’m thinking concrete is gonna be more abrasive than gravel. It’s worth a gamble IMO
What is a whip?
A whip is just a short section of high pressure hose. You use a whip line from your unloader to hose reel. Some also use a whip on the end of their pressure hose because it’s usually the first part of the hose to fail. It’s cheaper replacing a 10’ whip rather than the whole 250’ hose.
Cool marinegrunt. Thanks… I am going to be running an 18in electric titan and I am aiming to put 300 feet of hose on the reel. I know it’s more than usually but I am firm on having the capability. WHAT BRANDS AND SIZES do you recommend??? I don’t even know if I want 1 or 2 wire…
I have about 275 on the reel for my soft wash and if that thing is not completely drained and rolled up properly it is a huge pain getting it to roll up and even harder getting off.
Unless you’re in an area where houses are a ways off the road I’m maybe stick to 200’-250’. You can then keep a couple extra 50’ sections on the rare occasion you may need more. I keep a couple rolled up in 5 gallon buckets (thanks @squidskc ). I only have 200’ on my reel and I think I’ve only had to add a 50’ section once when I was doing a dock on a lake. I do wish I would’ve put a 250’ hose on because it has been close a few times. Put on whatever you think you need for your area though.
I got my hose from United Hose. They use to be the place a lot of us got our hose from but I guess their prices skyrocketed for some reason. I’m not sure what I plan on getting next. Have you tried any local hydraulic store for prices? You can sometimes find that hidden gem where you can get great quality equipment at great prices. I would at least call around. Even if you don’t buy the hose from a hydraulic store you’ll want to keep one in mind for when you need to get new fittings crimped on or to just buy some good hydraulic fittings for your rig.
