Pump over pressurized?

So last night i used my machine with no problems. I stopped because my tank ran out of water. This morning after re filling i did a job and the pump ran great, when i let go of the trigger the pressure in the hose instantly dropped and the machine started building pressure like it was going to blow apart. when i pulled the trigger the gun sprayed fine until i let go. Then it built pressure again. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have an unloader problem.

How can I test that to see if it is. I can’t get parts to easily around here. Local shop with parts is closed on weekends. Can’t figure out why you would close on a Saturday. Thanks for your reply.

Is your pump setup to go into bypass when the trigger isn’t being squeezed? If it is and water is not coming out into your holding tank then you have an unloader problem and it needs to be fixed or replaced ASAP.

Thanks John. Yes it is set up for bypass. I will check on the water to see if it is flowing.

So i found the problem. Turns out a screw holding the exhaust shield on the muffler fell out. Yea so, well the exhaust was blowing out the hole directly on my air breather and melted a hole in the side. so the dirty hot air was blowing right into the carb chocking it out making the pump sound like it was blowing up. it was really the engine starving. Check everything when doing maintinance.

Get a pressure Guage on that pump so you can know for next time if there is a pressure problem. To much pressure build up can be dangerous!

yea thats another issue. already have one on it but it stopped working. Trying to get to the parts place is tough to do. Other option is online but i have to get time to cross the border to get it. I know excuses, but thats the way it is right now.

Thank Robward. I meet the same problem, and i know what can i do to fix it now!
